Ken & Betty's: Yet Another Cheesesteak Hoax?

Where are you eating and what do you think? What's opening, closing, succeeding, failing?

That's more or less theater director Caden Cotard's working hypothesis for Act 3 of SYNECDOCHE, NEW YORK.

Making Madison cheesesteaks tonight with leftover Fraboni's porketta, prime ribeye steaks, and swiss cheese on bolillo rolls.

Had a wicked awesome Philly cheese steak the other day with bologna, a hunk of dill havarti and mismatched slices of wheat and seven-grain grocery store bread. Also: butter.

Felt as Philly as Ron Jaworski!

A cheesesteak is a cheesesteak....but a cheesesteak from Philly IS a Philly Cheesesteak.

I'd actually prefer NOT to have an "authentic" cheesesteak from Philly. The cut of meat, the rolls - great. Cheese Whiz over actual cheese, like Provolone?

Not for me. So if it's somewhat Wisconsin-ized, I'd be okay with that.

Was this a problem with Red's, or do I just not like Philly cheesesteak sandwiches?

Never been to Philly, and sadly didn't hit Big Red's enough when I had the chance, but I was there a number of times and don't recall the meat ever being tough, or the flavor being lacking.

Cheesesteak, Wiz, wit, if that matters.

Same here. Big Red's was quite good. As good as any cheesesteaks I had in Philly. Better then some actually,

No Wiz and it's not a Philly CS to me, But one of my pet peeves is changing up recipes and calling it "our take" on something. There's an awful lot of Rueben sandwichs out there that aren't a Rueben. Just call it something else.

Yeah, like a Reuben. (Sorry, I couldn't resist...)

But yeah, I'm with you. If your sandwich won't sell without swiping some other sandwich's good name, then it's probably not a very good sandwich. And if you can't come up with a name for your new sandwich, you probably shouldn't be writing menus. Just give it a name already. Heck, I don't even care what's on it -- you may call it the Wagstaff. You're welcome.

And you shouldn't. I'm a full on dumbass when it comes to spelling.

A "pastrami" Reuben for instance. That's not a FUCKING Reuben.
