I thought it was a fantastic show. I've seen both bands before, but I thought they were both in top form. The Walkmen's outstanding new material sounded perfect to me, and Okkervil River was better than ever. Sound quality was a good as it gets in the Barrymore. I suppose I'll post since I've got a different perspective than most...

First of all, Okkervil is'nt exactly my thing.
I get to be a +1 on the guestlist from the
Travis/Madison connection.

With that said, damn, do they put on a good show.
Everyone in the band did their thing to re-create the
lush arrangements and dynamics featured on the recordings.
I got to hear the new record a few days before
the show and came to be quite impressed
with how they pulled it off live.

That guitarist... (plenty pics of her on that muzzleobees thang) This is her first tour ever and
she quit her job just to be a part of it. She not only played guitar, but banjo, mandolin, violin, and lap steel. As I was listening I was tying to recall why the guitar was so well mixed with everything else
compared to the Orpheum show with the Wrens guy, Charles I think his name was...
Could it be the Les Paul? Partly methinks.
Turns out it was mostly the sound guy, who joined Okkervil on this tour. I've never heard the Barrymore sound so good, and with all that instrumentation...amazing. He really set the bar...
which seems so fucking ridamndiculous given the fact
I've been going to Barrymore shows for years.
He could not have been older than 25.
Such a wee lad providing pure aural pleasure.

All of Okkervil are stand up guys/gal, too.
It was great to get to chat with 'em this time
around. I mostly ended up talking to the New Pornos
last time. Let's go get a burger and fries, EH?

I agree, having seen them both before I thought they were both very good. The new Walkmen record was well represented, but they also played our favorite, "The Rat" which they omitted at the HNS show this year when they headlined. Okkervil did a great job as well, the new record is getting strong reviews and what they played of it was very enjoyable.
