Dig, I mostly listen to music that's old, really old, like 20-30, or 50-60, or 300 years ago. But I'm also a fan of modern music. This is going to sound a bit mad, but I mostly want to post this for the record--let's see what's what in two years.

Production and some writing by Max Martin, I think. Classic chord progression but done up in kind of an updated Human League style.
Incredibly apt drum programming. At least two memorable
lyrics-as-tshirt slogans. Pop, but also dance music a la Madonna, and thematic in a way that is usually something you see with U2 or Eminem--very self-consciously defining an iconic image through lyrics and style. Heavy re-utilization of pinup doll imagery from the 40s towards this end.
She writes a lot of her music, which is key towards the critical goal of owning her brand, which she seems to easily grasp.
Keep an eye on this one, I think she is perfectly capable of suddenly punking out or going metal or even country (P!ink has very recently made these kinds of permutations seem safe inside the industry) and she also has that type A personality that Reese Witherspoon has rode to top flight status. I don't see anything stopping her. She's already at the top.
