Word to those two. I could sub-categorize every fave album by genre, but that would defeat the purpose of the exercise IMO. That's why I chose Exile.

And as someone who saw the Dead with Jerry several times, I have to say that "Europe 72" and "Reckoning" are my favorite live Dead albums. Was never much of a tape collector...

They're all really good. Anything Joe Pernice has put out is excellent. But that album has one of my favorite songs on it, "Grudge ****".

This is a great thread, which I've veered away from too many times for fear of being sucked in. But this morning, I'm already in vacation mode, and going to throw in an album I have to call my favorite because it was the first one my mother gave me (when I was 11) and has remained in heavy rotation for nearly 20 years.

It's a bit of a departure from other mentions, and from what I listen to currently, but always a comfort.

Blue, Joni Mitchell.

Twisted Christmas/Bob Rivers

the first one with the 12 pains of Christmas and the Immortal words of the King where Elvis says when he thinks of Christmas he thinks of love and he would love another helping of those mash potatoes or something like that.

It also has the song where the kid says there's something stuck up in the chimney.

If Christmas depresses you this CD will really make you laugh

I'm not proud to say that it took me this long, but I just picked up the first Captain Beyond album. While I'm not ready to move it into the #1 slot yet, it definitely has me asking, "where have you been all my life?!?"

Yeah, I will have to buy that. I got the Beatles box this year but I bagged the reissue of Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out. The Stones were quite angry as I always claimed they were the better band in barroom arguments...
