I realize that it's not politically correct to use the word "gay" to describe something that is lame.

But that drummer is beyond "gay."

You say not politically correct, I say gratuitously mean-spirited -- not least because you acknowledge that people have a problem with the usage. It is not a good usage.

Checked out their tour schedule. Looks like we just missed them this past weekend at the Menomonie Casino in Kenosha.
Go virul.

Not Kenosha, Keshena. Yeah, I don't know either, but had to look 'em up. What I do know is this is the best viral video I've seen in a loooong time. (Thanks to Walter for the initial post in a different thread.)

The featured drummer has been interviewed on his new-found fame.

I say he is quite gay, technically, and I refuse to surrender such a fine word if it fits. Let us use gay in this instance in the proper context for Mr. Super Sticks.

I ripped this from an on-line dictionary:

–adjective
1. having or showing a merry, lively mood: gay spirits; gay music.
2. bright or showy: gay colors; gay ornaments.
3. given to or abounding in social or other pleasures: a gay social season.
4. licentious; dissipated; wanton: The baron is a gay old rogue with an eye for the ladies.
5. homosexual.
6. of, indicating, or supporting homosexual interests or issues: a gay organization.

1 through 4: check. 5 and 6: possibly but unknown. To paraphrase our old friend Meatloaf, 4 out of 6 ain't bad! He is a gay drummer, but he may not a totally gay drummer.

I will admit my post in another thread of the video was indeed gratuitous and mean-spirited. But it had nothing to do with being gay, in the parlance of our times, and I meant it, Rick.

When people toss around the word gay nowadays, there’s a good chance they aren’t referring to a jovial old-timer. Mindlessly using the word in public to describe something as lame is obnoxious.

This guy is awesome, on another note. The half-hearted synchronized guitar moves and weak windmills are not awesome.

I would describe the drummer as exceedingly flamboyant.

Seriously, it seems that he practiced the stick twirls so much, he can't do it without them anymore. At least they are not a hobby band; they've got matching gold lame (how do you make a tilde?) jackets.

I beg to differ; it brings the kitsch to a whole new level.

Stick tricks and twirls are good in moderation and in the appropriate band.

Much like the drummer for Cherry Pie, he's great, but he's taken drumstick tricks from a tribute level to more of a parody.

I’m not sure I get the move where he puts the stick up to his head and then does the stiff robot-esque turn. Everything else makes perfect sense, of course.

This guy gets all the ladies.

Well, now we finally know what Liberace would have looked like had he ever developed a penchant for drums.

Other than that, I thought it was pretty frickin' cool.
