Listening to the car radio, Triple M played Stg. Pepper/A Day in the Life and it brought back memories of the first time I heard it. While it was not officially released until June 1, 1967, I heard the album (or at least part of it) a bit earlier than that. I was living in a UW dorm (LaFollette House, Adams Hall) and a student run low powered radio station, WLHA, was transmitted through the power lines. The southeast area dorms had a similar station.
Well, one of the student DJs had just come back from England and somehow got a copy of the album and played it. My fellow dormmates and I were blow away by A Day in the Life.
Rehearing certain other songs also evokes strong memories of the first time I heard them.
Anyone one else with a story? As an old fart, I could tell more. Maybe later.
