Are there any Dr Demento fans here ?

On Sunday night he was on Anything Anything with Rich Russo and I thought might like to hear some of songs they played.

Check it out at http://richrusso.net/playlist-for-02031 ... -and-wdha/

I actually thought about him the other day and looked in the "where are they now" file.

I used to listen to him in my formative years. It may have been he who sparked the first of my soul-burning hatred of Mark Russell.

Fish heads BARNES AND BARNES (Billy Mumy!)
Shaving cream BENNIE BELL
Dead puppies OGDEN EDSL
They’re Coming to take me away, ha ha NAPOLEON XIV

MISSING:
Kinko The Clown
The guy that sang "My name is Larry" (he died recently)
Homecoming Queen has a gun Judy Tenuda (sp?) (if he is going to put on Steve Martin)
That song where it sounds like a 50's cocktail party and a drunk guy singing on the piano
Other stuff I am forgetting...

p.s. Dr. Demento just spoke about Ron Jeremy on the podcast.

Dang it. But it does make me feel better. I hate that stupid tuba. (not to be confused with Downtown Doody Wubbles)

I taped "Homecoming Queen" off the Vanderbilt college station ca. 1985, when I was 14. Listened to it again and again.

Thanks for the reminder, artpaul. I was trying to explain the glory of the good doctor to my 12 year old about a month ago, and meant to hit the youtubes for visual/audio aids, but it slipped my mind.

By the way, one of my favorites was "Ti Kwan Leep". "Yeah? Well, the best defense is a good offense. You know who said that? Mel, the cook on "Alice.""

One of my favorites was "Pencil-neck geek". And there was another one I don't recall the title of in which someone in a real squeaky falsetto sang a ridiculously funny rhyming song about a stye in his eye.

I found some of his CDs at a garage sale a few years back, and I love it when ANY of those come up in my Shuffle. Especially Homecoming Queen, though. That one is so perfect........

Still makes me smile. Every single time.

Yeah there is no way he could of played all the dememted songs on the Rich Russo show that is why I post his website at http://www.drdemento.com because at his website you can listen to his regular show and if you go to http://www.drdemento.com/request/ you can request what he plays.

Nope, that's not it. I am looking for it now. I did come across these though to add to my missing list:

I Get Weird - John W. Christensen
Rock And Roll Doctor - Travesty, Ltd.

Another song I hated: Wet Dream - Kip Addotta. I didn't like him on "Make Me Laugh" either. Oh and I think I might have confused Tom Lehrer with Mark Russell. I do however imagine them both on my soundtrack in hell. The Masochism Tango - Tom Lehrer

I can't find the one, artpaul. Lost to the ages. I did find this:

The Fools - Psycho Chicken (1980)

Does HIM take requests?

Dr Demento does take request at http://www.drdemento.com/request

But I think you need to know the artist or the name of the song.

Seeking lyrics for a song called "For Money" Originally played on Dr Demento radio show, and not listed anywhere in any database...

Some lyrics I recall "I sold my Mom the very next day...Sold my brother, sold my sister...I met a woman...we had babies, lots of babies...I sold them all..."
"Money can make you happy, money can make you rich..."

I know the title was "For Money"

Yeah, wierd stuff, but a very funny tune... Any help is greatly appreciated
