Bartender, what's this fly doing in my drink?

Postby Chuck_Schick » Mon Sep 15, 2003 9:46 am

One of my favorite moments at the rail was when someone bought me a yard of beer at the Essen Haus for my birthday. Apparently, it's a bitch to clean those things, because mine came with a house-fly chaser.

So I go up to the bartender and spring this question on him, and he becomes all sheepish and apologetic, which is all well and good, but what I really wanted was a snide punchline to my query. After all, who knows when I might next have the chance to set this one up?

So what should his response have been?

A gentleman dining at Crewe
Found quite a large mouse in his stew.
Said the waiter, "Don't shout,
and wave it about,
Or the rest will be wanting one too."

snoqueen, remember when we played the game on the old Forum where we had to make the next post from the letters of the last word in the previous post? You made that "tiny haiku." You don't still have that do you? I really wish I would have saved that thread.

My only guess is that it must have been a suicide, because not even a fly would want to drink the cheap swill you're guzzling.
