Great Bartending in Madison

Everyone is posting the good bartenders in the Poor Bartending thread.
I got confused.
So I guess Great Bartending is where we list the awful ones.

Usually BW3 is great. Who can't pour a beer?
But a couple days ago I walked through the empty restaurant and stood at empty bar and waited.
THREE servers were at the cash register but weren't bartenders. The bartender was on the phone.
I waited.
Servers turning red, finally slouching off to Bethlehem.
Bartender on phone looks at me and shrugs.
After EIGHTEEN MINUTES I shrugged and LEFT the building.
What's going on in service these days?
Live customers come before phone calls.
And greet a customer once in awhile! I often stand around waiting for to be seated and no one even says hi---not the busboy or the cooks in the wide open exposed kitchen or anyone.
All it takes is "Hey, welcome! Suzie will be right with ya!"

Rob at Otto's is a great bartender, he is adept at customer service, very thoughtful in assisting with wine advise. And he volunteers in the community too!

Yeah i guess it makes more sense to put the great bartenders in the "great bartending" post..

Anyway... I agree with Blunt that it SO EASY to acknowledge a customer and let them know you will be right with them.. But many bartenders and wait staff act like the have never heard of customer service!

Another nomination: We stopped by Azzalino's last Thursday and met the bartender there, I believe his name was "Jens", very personable, promptly greeted and took care of everyone that came in, and even gave all of us tokens for a free drink the next time we stop in.. Kudos Jens...

You can blame poor management for that. A good owner/manager needs to create a friendly and fun working atmosphere and constantly stress to staff the importance of making sure customers feel welcome.
