the Park Bank banner.
Doesn't even fit TDP aesthetic.
Plus turn off the Loop or at least have it resolve to a final frame.
Gonna have to turn off flash b/c it's too distracting for my eyes.

It's also a little bit offensive, kind of retarded and not at all effective. It's like an anti-ad. It has successfully wiped out any inclination I would have had to do business with them.

It was the first thing I saw when I opened the page today, and I love it! Made me wish my bank had a sense of humor too.

Park Bank has a long and honorable record of community service and I think they've earned the right to run that ad. They're one of the few remaining locally-owned banks around here and I hope they stay that way.

A "little bit"?

It manages to suggest Smove B / "Leon Phelps the Ladies Man", and (with that rhyming couplet) Johnny Cochrane, all at the same time. Hell, it's brilliantly offensive!

There actually is a Dr. Loving in town and he looks nothing like that.

I like the soul patch and afro. Very cool. The younger kids are going back to the fro look, the bigger the better is what I always say.

Yeah, hideous on many levels. It'd be a lot better if you replaced the Venus-Flytrap-with-empty-eyesockets dude with the humping dinosaurs from the "Walking with the Dinosaurs" ad.

And just what the fuck is "bank-lovin'" anyway? Just another reason I'm glad I'm with a credit union.

And BTW, I was tempted to come right in here with a complaint earlier, but I didn't want to cement the idea that I'm now "complains-about-what's-on-TDPF guy". That's jammy's job and he does it well. I keed. I keed.

Maybe someone at Park Bank started reading about "lovemarks" and set about trying to elevate the Park Bank brand to lovemark status.

If so, it's an interesting challenge. Most people rightly view their banking as something they have to do, not as an experience to embrace and look forward to.

Or maybe, as your post might suggest, Park Bank was looking at the higher level of satisfaction consumers have with credit unions vs. banks and said, maybe we can get some of that.

Has an actual African American individual given their assessment of the ad here yet? Or just us white folk so far? To me, it's just a humorous ad reaching out in a tongue-in-cheek style to the African American community. I'd be interested in knowing which agency designed it, and which designer, and their thoughts, too. I'm also going to get my Halfrican American's son take on it, when he returns from his foreign exchange student trip to Germany in a week. My guess: he will either laugh, or just say "duh" with an eye roll. He generally finds Caucasian outrage over things like this to be much ado about nothing.

"Dr. Lovesmore" looks suspiciously like the late Milt McPike
