Kind Bike company

Postby narcoleptish » Thu Aug 28, 2008 10:32 am

The sub-headline for this article, "Madison company makes a greener, kinder bike", led me to believe I was about to read about someone in madison who was striking out on their own and actually building a better bike right here in our backyard. Someone who I might find inspiring.

But no, it's just some dude promising us that he traveled the world in search of a socially and environmentally responsible bike factory, and this quest for goodness found it's way to that far off land of quality and fairness....china.

Give me a fucking break Wayne Thompson. You found someone who could make a simple bike, dirt cheap, in a factory so far away that 99.999% of the people who ever buy the bike have Zero chance of ever visiting so they can see the goodness and kindness of this place for themselves.

And what exactly makes this bike greener than other bikes?

You're a guy with an office in madison selling chinese bikes. Not a madison based maker of greener, kinder bicycles.

I'm pretty sure child sweatshop laborers exhale less CO2 than adult sweatshop laborers.

Well at least he got to write off part of his worldwide trip as a "business expense". Pff.

Next week I'm going to the Bahamas in search of more environmentally-friendly beaches.

Reminds me of my college roommate Sean who spent winter term of our senior year at Carleton in the Virgin Islands, studying 'Depositional Patterns of Sand In Transitional Areas Subject to Tidal Influence.'

In other words, he spent the whole time scuba diving on the beach.

The dude was a fucking genius.
