Okay, Jason, what's the point of banning someone if they can just come back?

Obviously you don't have to explain (publicly or otherwise) why or for how long someone's been banned. I'm a mod elsewhere; I know how that goes. But SERIOUSLY. It's like herpes, but without the Valtrex. Geez.

Sometimes, you just can't technically ban someone, as they post from multiple IPs. Plus, I'm not checking this thing all day and all night.

Is this really a gigantic problem?

But, really, there's nothing here that's outrageous,
Nothing sick, or bad — or contagious.

Yeah, I know about IP banning and all, but I suppose if one is JUST THAT PERSISTENT...

And yes, it is a gigantic problem, and why aren't you taking care of it right away, and I am shocked and outraged, and I'm never coming back, except when I do, and please think of the children, blah blah blah

(I'm not very good at Internet flouncing.)

1. Sometimes I let a new account continue on when it's obvious that they've learned their lesson, but they're on an unofficial short leash.

2. Sometimes I know that someone is back right away and get rid of their new account quickly. But more often it takes a couple weeks for it to become obvious, at least to me.

3. Sometimes a person gets kicked off and then sends me multiple emails to the effect of "Whatever. I don't even LIKE Forum. I just go there to promote my own personal cause and it's really too bad that that cause will now most likely shrivel up and die because I'm no longer able to advocate on its behalf." And then they're back a day later.

First definition in Urban Dictionary:
Flounce 184 up, 10 down
When a member of an online community announces they are leaving, usually after a protracted disagreement with other members of the community.
"I'm gone. You all enjoy your little discussions."

Well, I'll be. Never heard that usage before. And I spend way too much time on the Internet. I wonder where it originated.

Anyway, I take it back, Thusnelda. You flounce so fine, girl.

If the start of this page was about me, I'd just like to say that I'm not here to disrupt the forum - only to contribute in my own, unique way.

If so, keep Genie (Polaris) on a very short leash. Please.

This place is so unfriendly. I post in the Whooping Crane thread - because I've been keeping track of the migration this year, and you and some other creature hijack it. Do you have any other interests?

After reading over the whooping crane thread I'm left with the opinion that other people have posted things that are actually offensive, inane, boring, wrong, and irritating. Polaris has not. Can you point me to the posts that have attracted your ire and wrath, that I may learn more better social skills?
