Its a stunt (disguised as investigative journalism).

Do you think he would have gotten the same honesty from the the guests if he approached them with a microphone and notebook, flashing his reporter credentials?
Walking in their shoes for a few hours was an effective way to better understand this story.

And by the way,
"Its" is a possessive pronoun.
"It's" means "it is".

I'm not sure that anything you just typed has much to do with journalistic objectivity. Dinging me on apostrophes and half-baked statements re: "better understanding the story" do not address my point.

I'm having a hard time following your scattershot rhetorical approach, but you have now wandered into my section of the paper. Can I help you?

Probably not. I think we've discussed this a bit before and I have no beef with your reviews. My admittedly circuitous point is that the Isthmus' mission often seems a little off to me. There are many aspects of the paper that I enjoy, but I am perplexed or turned off by a slew of others. My personal taste and preconceived notions about indie newspapers and alt weeklys is probably contributing to what I'm saying and I'm fine with that. After all, this is an internet message board...

The same could be said about any article in any paper.

When the options are:
1-Interview the staff
2-Interview the guests
3-Sleep there yourself
The third is ostensibly the most objective.

Definitions of ostensible on the Web:

apparent(a): appearing as such but not necessarily so; "for all his apparent wealth he had no money to pay the rent"; "the committee investigated ...
represented or appearing as such; pretended; "His ostensible purpose was charity, his real goal popularity"

wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn

In obvious fact, the third is demonstrably the most subjective - since the only viewpoint it offers is the author's.

You may now return to justifying mind-bogglingly shoddy journalistic practices.

First of all, I was just fucking with boston_Jeff. Obviously anyone with that username would know such basic rules of grammer.

Let's suppose that there are two dogs in this fight: the complaining guests and the defensive staff.
The author could provide an objective perspective on this as he is theoretically an unbiased reporter, with no prejudice toward either party.
Marvell wrote:I don't think the word means what u think it means

He is ostensibly objective because any reporter carries their own baggage into any story and underneath the facade of objectivity probably has his own agenda.

It's tiring to have to spell this out for you.

You're cordially invited to save the energy and not do me any more favors, since you seem determined to be such a pedantic fuckwit about it and all.

And I can spell "grammar," too. But that doesn't change the fact that this is my first post in this topic. Why, pray tell, are you fucking with me in my absence?

Woah!!!
Wrong guy!
So sorry.

The "Bo..." lingered in my memory.
I was fucking with him because I think it's really distracting when people have to come out, guns blazing with insults and cursing. It's like Uncle Leaver's posts, he may have valid arguments but they're clouded by all the rage.
(I fixed my previous post.)

This would make a great first line in a Harlequin romance.

No worries, BTW.

Now here we are again.
Can't we be sarcastic without incurring such profane anger?
Do I need to put little winking smiles on the end of everything?
I'm sorry to have reduced this thread to such bickering, so I will bow out.

I appreciate your ostensibly sincere call for civility, but pompously chiding someone for not appreciating your overt sophistry isn't exactly leading by example.

I can argue that black is white too. Any fuckwit can.

That's okay. You don't have to answer my questions. I'll just sit in the back and not say anything.

Sniffle.

Yep. Everyone here who's spent some time with me will tell you I'm a rageaholic. I'm addicted to rageahol.

Thanks for the afternoon hoot.
