Untimely Madison Miscellany

Postby Stu Levitan » Tue Apr 13, 2010 11:16 am

Hey Jason, what's up with Madison Miscellany? All the items are from early March. Is nobody maintaining that function anymore?

It's the online version of the paper's "20 years ago..."

Remember when the Alders had no clue what was going on with the library?? Seems like just 6 weeks ago...

I like the way the stories are lined up. I just wish they were more current. It's an enjoyable surfing spot.

I'm getting tired of reading:
"Shot fired in the air during disturbance in Willy St. parking lot."

If there's no money to continue, why not cut it out?

Jason - the lead item in Madison Miscellany is TWO MONTHS OLD! Seriously -- why bother to have the feature if you're not going to keep it current?

I still love all the miscellaneous stuff Madison has to offer. It's frustrating to look there, in expectation and see the same old, same old, kinda like Groundhog Day. I'm not asking myself: Shots fired on Williamson again?! I'm asking myself: Shots fired on Williamson, still?!

So, what? We need to buy futures in historical reporting to find out what's happening today?

Love it or leave it.

Jason
You didn't seriously compare not updating Madison Miscellany in over two months with Madison Magazine commissioning an historical piece on what life was like in Madison 40 years ago this month, did you? You really think there's something inconsistent in my suggesting that you should maintain a feature about CURRENT issues in a more timely manner? That's the best you can do?

Really?

Madison Miscellany isn't supposed to be nostalgic.

If Madison Magazine ran the same article three issues in a row, then joyce would have point. But since that isn't the case, I took it as smug response with zero regard for a legitimate consumer inquiry.

This has been an ongoing TDP issue that I've also commented on in the past.

I agree.... fine if the feature gets ditched because nobody wants to/has the time to update it, but leaving old items up is just silly and irritating for those of us who actually appreciate Madison Miscellany and check in frequently to see if it's been brought up to date.

And an actual reply instead of a flip retort would be appreciated.

SHOTS FIRED ON WILLY STREET!!

Postby Stu Levitan » Tue May 11, 2010 12:27 pm

Oh, wait a minute, that was on March 6.

My bad.

Jason -- keep the damned Madison Miscellany up-to-date or dump it. But this is just getting embarrassing.
