A big thank you to TDPF members (aka Forons)

Postby Mad Howler » Mon Jun 04, 2012 11:38 pm

I've been unable undo my infatuation of checking into this forum over the last 16 months, I'm hooked. There are views that I agree with and those that I don't, and most of the time I feel like posters I hear from are honest and believe what they are saying (please do not flame me with obvious exceptions). It's taken me some time to understand that this is not a place to seek answers to culturally pressing problems, but a place to exercise the discourse that might lead there and to have some fun. I believe this forum has helped me in my start towards being a more active citizen. So I just want to say thank you.

Mad Howler, do what I do: don’t let those mean forons get to you! The “Sheppy” thing, they tried that on me too. And let me tell you, ‘twas not “a pretty.” I just about self-imploded, and the one(s) who didn’t appreciate me know’d it. You will know if I like you, because at some point, I’ll probably cite you. Mad Howler, use the forum like
I do, for what-Eve-a the “HE-double hockey sticks” I want 2. And ask the H8Rs to just “ignore” you.

There’s really no reason for the “Sheppy” attack. Butt sometimes
I like to say “thanks” to those who got my back. So this past week,
I gots 2 of you. (Besides my family; I love you Ma, Danny, Granny, and my Aunties and Jerrys!) If you ever need parts for your whip, see
Mr. O’Reilly, and you’ll get service that’ll make you flip! And thanks to the gentleman yesterday who opened the doors for me and my Brownie! After a really hard week and a tough day, you left me with just a “thank you, thank you very much” to say. So another day,
if you come “Around [my] Way” (like LL Cool J;) please tell me your name, cause I have trouble with that kind of thing (names, faces, memories; even with my best-ies).

I love you very much, Mad Howler.

I don't take the time to say those simple words often enough.

So I finally watched Stripes tonight. Pretty funny, coming from a girl, that is! Know what else is funny? That I posted about mutts and Bullwinkle and all that before I actually saw the movie... Funny,
or weird, like EST or something?

And Bill Murray's character doesn't even look Czech, so how did he get past the guards? And I hate tourist season too!

So thanks for the rec; I'll follow up on my other one now, since I sent it to my better half (my Bro), along with a book by one of "our" favorite authors, Herman Hesse. It's on DVD now: Jeff Who Lives at Home. Pretty good, I think B-dog will really like it too.

Next up on my Netflix que: The Unbearable Lightness of Being.
Read it back in the day, and watched the movie too, but I want to see it again with a fresh set of eyes. It's an oldie but a goodie!

Which allows liberals to register (and vote) multiple times in the same election.

They know that cheating is the only way they can win, which is why liberals are fighting tooth and nail against laws that allow for honest elections.

Right, and conservatives know the only way they can win is to kill the opposition, which is why they fight tooth and nail against any and all gun control efforts.

Thanks for the heads up, peanut. How specifically do I get in on this action?

The way things work now, one has to bring a utility bill, as a minimum, for voter registration. A postcard is later sent (and returned by recipient) to verify that the name and address match.

How *exactly* am I going to get away with voting multiple times?

I have no doubt that fraud could occur under above procedure, but it's going to be rare and mostly detectable. A meaningful level of fraud would have to involve a corrupt political machine where a lot of poll workers are bribed, or some organized scheme. Picture IDs are irrelevant to preventing inside jobs.

Err thanks, I kind of forgot about this thread but caught it before it got pushed down out of sight. Man you guys are on and it seems lurking a good chunk of the time. Regarding "Sheppy", I suspect he or she has checked out of this forum or literally checked out...
