People who do my job at other papers did away with their message boards years ago, complaining that they were overrun with 15-year-olds making poop jokes.

When I say that we're going strong after 12 years or however long it's been, they can't believe it. "Like, a message board? As in what we used to have in like 2003?"

Yes, I say. It's a php bulletin board. Huge traffic.

"Did you say bulletin board?" they gasp. "What do people do there?"

Whereas here it's the 65-year-olds posting poop jokes.

I think most of the teenagers stay away because they find it difficult to deal with our lack of maturity. It's kind of like catching your parents in a burping contest.

At least you can rebut posts you disagree with.

How you gonna counter "Analcream Jones was at Bed, Bath and Beyond"?

Schabow.

Adam is much more than a typical foron due to his RWP video segments. He is a funny and talented guy. I don't think that would come through with only text posts.

There would be much less rancor here IMHO if we all got to see each other like that.

I agree. People would like Meade a lot more if only they could see him in a video.

Well he IS awfully good to the dogs.

But that love EQUALLY comment is still sticking in my craw.

As well as the incident in the dream library.

The incident in the dream library should have given you a clue. Call it Meadinger's Dog. It's a paradox wrapped in an enigma surrounded by an irony enveloped by an imperceptibly small particle of hypocrisy and it goes something like this: Suppose a dog - in the form of a Labrador Retriever - and God - in the form of a tennis ball - together in a box with a tiny peephole in the box. Now, if you were to take a look into the box when the moon is in the seventh house and Jupiter aligns with Mars, does the dog have the tennis ball in his mouth with his tail wagging? Or is the dog asleep, having a dream, with one of his rear legs kicking in random spasms of joy?

Of course they do.

Exactly! Schrödinger's Cat has got Detritus's bilingually forked tongue.

You see, Detritus gets it/doesn't get it. Paradox, enigma, irony - all collapsed and bound up in the mysterious entanglement of nearly imperceptible subatomic particles of hypocrisy and, probably, poor personal hygiene.

If it were even possible for us to be on the same wavelength, we could not be more objectively stuck in our separate but equal dialectical materialism universes of dualistic dueling banjos - De Tritus being de tyrant and I having been sold into slavery though, as we both know/not know - the loser now will be later to win in the big Super Bowl continuum of space-time.

I think. I'm not sure. Therefore, I am not positivistic about that. I'm not Hawking either of the Legends of Karl. Marx or Popper. But there is always a spoonful of dialectic to help the Obamacare medicine go down. That way you don't completely disgrace yourself. As someone or other once said. Orwell. Or Not Orwell.

Creative love, baby. The creative destruction of the pros and cons of creative love. Jesus said that. Something like that. At least the part about the word love.

city2countrygal

The right brain perspective in a sea of left brainers (I'm looking at you Kurt).

Hey, left brainers are not a bad thing. But right brainers have their place too. Meade and Peej both have a mix of the two.

I don't always "get" c2cg but I get where she's coming from.

That's the nicest thing that anyone (other than me) has ever said about Meade on this forum.

Meade, win over Sno...and TDPF is your oyster.
