Bring back Ban on a whim Wednesday!

Postby bdog » Sat Apr 20, 2013 7:02 am

Ok I think BOAWW actually only occured one time, but it forced people to be on their best behavior. Then the next day we were all free to act like complete assholes again.

Wouldn't it be nice to come here just one day a week and see everyone making nice?

Many, if not most, other forums can do that 7 days a week. I wonder why?

1. They have only 3 members.
2. None of them are named Laurence Meade.
3. They don't argue because they don't ever disagree.

I'd be more impressed if we could go a whole day without someone suggesting that their fellow citizens are somehow "lesser Americans".

Asking nicely: Sandi, please give us some examples of these other forums you speak of.

bdog: I respectfully disagree. I suspect it would be boring and insincere. A couple of times a year would be plenty for me.

Sure, here are a few of my daily visits.

All much bigger that The Daily Page. Rare to see trolling, or bickering on any one of them.

I can see your point, Sandi. I noticed that on my favorite forum, dedicated to Lego sculptures that look like food items, there's rarely any bickering about politics.

My favorites are all devoted to cute pictures of puppies and kittens, and nobody argues there either.

Well to he honest there will always be more bickering and slamming when politics or religion is discussed. But that is no excuse for the total lack of respect many here engage in.

There should be an enforced "attach the message, not the messenger" rule here with warnings, then suspensions or bans. That is pretty standard on most discussion boards.

Just a clarification for what rabble wrote:

Sandi wrote:Should have known you fucking idiots would derail it into a name calling bash.

(and)

Yes city2countrygal, including me. Your research is excellent. You may have come across a thread where I said I would ban on my own forum for what I have said here.

Not being used to the hack and whack response style that is common here, I admit I often find it hard to be civil myself. Because if the moderators ( in name only here ) don't keep me from being whacked every other post it is too difficult to refrain from giving as good as I get.

Will do. I don't know too many by other than the posting moniker.

The forum at madison.com was (inconsistently) moderated. Why did it fail? And why did many of its refugees end up on this forum? TDPF must have something going for it.
