Make Your Own Tea Bags

Postby Bwis53 » Thu Aug 30, 2007 11:36 am

I've got meshball and teaspoon type tea holders. Some days I need to travel light, not dragging a bag of cups, tupperware etc. Last time I had a cup of Mum tea, at EVP, it looked like they took part of a coffee filter, cut it, filled with loose tea, and secured with a toothpic. The made-to-fill paper teabags are pricy. I seem to be getting some pretty nice strength, Oatstraw tea just fine, with the coffee filter I used. Has anyone else tried this?

Have you considered those wacky insulated mugs that have built-in infusers? I use a teapot or nothing, but those looked like they might be worth a try.

I just keep one big china mug at work, for the microwave.

Who carries the infuser mugs? How much are they?

I think I saw one at REI for too much money. But it was next to other non-infuser mugs that were also too much money.

I think it was this one. Looking at it more closely, though, it seems kind of fishy to me that the infuser is at the top of a long cylinder. Can that really work?

Oh! Tea Bags. I really misinterpreted the title of this thread. My mistake.

You're not thinking of a coffee press type arrangement, are you? I use that at home, sometimes.
