Need recommendations: Lobster *and* hamburgers

Postby Bellwether » Tue Sep 11, 2007 12:55 pm

Hi there,

Best friends' parents' 50th wedding anniversary, the friends want to take them somewhere decent -- but Pa likes lobster and Ma likes hamburgers (I am serious, he would like to order lobster and she won't do that frou-frou food, her words, not mine).

No Red Lobster. Are there other choices you can recommend? Moderately priced is more attractive than expensive, as they'll look at the prices and each order a side salad and then be silent ("No, nothing's wrong!") all night. The friends asked me, but what do I know other than the best place to come find recommendations. :-)

Best,
Bell

Perhaps The Avenue Bar? They serve both.

Unless he really wants whole lobster, I've heard the Orpheum has a tasty lobster club sandwich. Burgers, too.

The Avenue Bar, how could I forget? Not the first place I think of when I think of 50th anniversaries, but then again, I don't think "hamburger" either.

I have deep personal reasons for avoiding anything owned by Von Rutenberg, otherwise that's a suggestion most people would truly appreciate, thank you.

I'll check back later to see if anyone else has more suggestions -- keep 'em coming. I told Sue I bet I'd have a dozen for her by the end of the week. :-)
