Magic Mill Closing 9/28

Postby wrenb » Thu Sep 27, 2007 11:54 am

I was at Magic Mill on Tuesday night picking up my mixed grains (for oatmeal & muesli) from the bulk bins, and they were out of practically everything. When we asked about their restocking day we were told they're closing Friday!

Perhaps if they would remove bad produce and restock the shelves instead of playing cards all day they might have had more business.

The last time I was in there I couldn't believe they were still in business. I mean there's a Whole Foods practically across the street! (in addition to Copps and Sentry a few doors down)

Anyone have any idea what's going in there? Please, no more Mexican...(although I've been impressed with Tex Tubbs...sure beats Firefly anyway)

That area could really use a good breakfast place.

Amen, TAsunder. "Organic" doesn't correlate with "swarms of fruit flies everywhere."

This is not coincidental.

Whole Foods' strategic business model has been based on finding markets where there are already successful natural foods stores, moving in down the street and running the competition out of business. I've heard people refer to WF as 'the Walmart of the natural foods industry.'

Of course, Magic Mill didn't do themselves any favors by being cramped and skanky.

That was my nickname in high school.
My devastation lies in the fact there is no place I can find citric acid (sour salt) downtown.
I know it's weird. But I can't live without it.
I have to trek to Woodman's now.

Sorry---didn't mean to let you hang so long!
No: I make my own spice mixture---a little from Penzey's, a little from the 99 cent rack at Walgreens, and a little....sour salt.
I end up with a shaker of garlic/pepper/Thai/Bloody Mary/lemon concoction that I carry with me everywhere I go. Just in case.
Makes pizzas better, Chinese food better, burgers better, salads, etc.
