Président Butter source?

Président Butter source?

Postby Korrigan » Sat Jan 01, 2011 11:04 am

Other than a contented Norman cow, that is.

Ordering butter via Amazon seems iffy to me. Does anyone know of a local seller of Président butter? Trader Joe's on Monroe St used to sell it.

presidentcheese.com has a dealer locator but it doesn't show anything within 30 miles of Madison; one place in Brookfield; nothing around Chicago; and doesn't show the grocery in a faraway state where we had some over the holidays.

Obviously, avoiding saturated fats are not on my resolution list.

I'm pretty sure you can get it at Sentry Hilldale. They also have Organic Valley superfat (84%) butter, if you want to go Euro-local.

It's not President but as of yesterday Jenny St Market was still selling hand rolled Amish butter. That fat content in that stuff is off the chart. I've made an extensive study.

Alas, they did not have it at Sentry Hilldale. The guys stocking the butter and dairy area looked at me like I was crazy when I asked. They did have Organic Valley grass fed, Kerrygold, and various other similar products.

I should have packed the chunk we got at HEB in Texas in my suitcase...

I thought of this thread when I shopped at Metcalfe's yesterday and didn't see it on the shelf. I'm certain they used to have it, but I suppose there's only so much shelf space they'll devote to superfat butter, and I'd rather see Organic Valley and Crystal Farms take up that space than Président.

Saw hand-rolled butter there, which I hadn't noticed before. No idea what the upside to that might be—is it fatter than superfat?

I keep waiting for some kind of political joke, but no. Y'all are really disappointing me here.

Can't help you there, but I will say that I'm disappointed that President Butter is a brand-- it would be an awesome band name.

I swear I've seen it here in town. Did you try Whole Foods on University?

Aha! Crockett, thank you! Whole Foods did have it, not with the other butter near the yogurt, but in the cooler next to the cheese counter. They also had some more obscure Normandy butter.

I've gotten Organic Valley grassfed and it's good, but Président has a certain flavor that I like.
