Mine is a mandoline.

If this article doesn't give you new respect for your mandoline, I don't know what will: :D

Reminds me of a favorite expression Mom would use to deter us from swiping samples while she cooked: "Touch that strawberry, and you'll draw back a bloody stub!"

I'm still intact, thankfully.

Pesto freezes well in ice cube trays for single-serving portions.
Just use some cooking spray first, so you don't have a green ice cube tray. Once they are froze, pop them out and store in a baggie.

Also better than a garlic press (and cleans easier:) is a garlic grinder. Remind ya'll of anything else? Perhaps what the majority approved of in CA and CO?

Hint: I used to put my weed in it.

I received a wok as a gift (requested) many years ago, and have yet to use it. It came with some scary instructions for preparing the pan and discarding the first few batches of food cooked in it. WTH? I also could get rid of my mandoline, I love it and it was very expensive but only really useful when preparing mass quantities. I live alone so that doesn't happen very often. My food processor mostly is used for preparing raw meat cat food for my cat. I recently bought another one for people food since the smell of fish oil isn't very appetizing. I hand chop most things but a food processor is necessary for pesto, sweet potato pie filling and hummus. I rarely use my toaster or my full size oven, since my toaster oven works for most everything. I also rarely use my pressure cooker for its intended use, since it's too big for one person's needs. I also recently got rid of my bread machine, since I picked up a Kitchenaid hand-held mixer for twenty bucks on clearance. It has dough hooks, whisk tools, and a blender attachment besides the standard beaters, and the motor is powerful. I use it for everything from bread to mayonnaise making and it goes right in the drawer. I do use my electric can opener, the other kind hurts my hands.

And you may want to cover your pesto cubes with Saran Wrap while they freeze. Don't want brown pesto, ya know?

You do "get" and "trust" Saran Wrap, doncha "Fennel"?

I mean, sometimes it's annoyingly static clingy (esp. the food grade kind), but I think I remember from a Rachael Ray episode, you can keep that in the freezer as well.

And I thought kittenwithawhip was not doing to use totally different gadgets.

Tonight was garlic bread – or croutons might be a better description. Anyway, that garlic press was indispensable. And I took note that on this particular press the holes are just large enought to fit a push-pin.
