Madison NORML: Saturday Global Cannabis Freedom March - Madison to
spotlight failed war on pot
MADISON: While a majority of elected officials in Wisconsin continue
to support continued criminalization of even the medical use of
cannabis, other states are moving forward. And while the 16 states
that have legalized medical cannabis have benefited greatly from the
new medical cannabis industry that has created thousands of good jobs
along with new tax revenues, Wisconsin continues to fall behind.
This Saturday April 30, 2011, medical cannabis patients,
cannabis/hemp activists and members of the public will gather at the
Wisconsin Capitol's State St. Steps for a rally and parade: the
Global Cannabis Freedom March - Madison. This annual event highlights
how the failed war on cannabis continues to harm society in ways we
do not even understand. The unintended consequences of a supposedly
free society continuing its prohibition of a non toxic herb that
literally built this nation negatively impacts each American and each
Wisconsinite every day whether we utilize cannabis or not.
The Global Cannabis Freedom March: Madison will begin around 11am
Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the State St. steps of the WI Capitol, as
activists gather. At around noon, several speakers will rally the
crowd and attendees will then parade down State St. ending up at the
Mifflin St. Block Party.
