Bebel was charming, singing like a bird, and interacting with an audience that clapped and sang along with the engaging Brazilian songstress (all except Eric who must have a needed a change of adult Depends)! Her music and band was fantastic, spot on singing, that met if not exceeded her recordings. Maybe some audience members expected a Vegas-style Celine Dion honk-a-thon to be entertained, but the evening was intimate. While Eric seemed to have trouble listening to people speak with accents, Bebel was delightful, amusing, and 100% herself. Dressed in a slinky black Brazilian dress, her dancing highlighted a lithe frame that did not seem hampered by drugs or drink. BTW when "she spoke into her water bottle," she then took a sip! The sound system at the Capitol was wonderful but the apparatus that Bebel used to hear herself was malfunctioning and she dealt with it humorously. Although Eric did not appreciate it, she did not lose any of her deft vocal quality whether she wore the ear-pieces or not. In all a fantastic show! Singing her most famous cover "So Nice," as a capper to a 16-song set that lasted 90 minutes, her songs were familiar to my wife and I who have been fans for years. A group of nearly 100 audience members were treated to a dance floor in the theater's orchestra pit that allowed a close-up view of one of Brazil's most amazing performers. Bebel congratulated the Capitol Theater, while musing "why can't we have such a beautiful theater in New York?" The band offered a perfect backdrop to Bebel's performance. And note to Eric, when she told the Madison Crowd to "Go home and Make Love," it was an invitation to continue the intimacy and relish the glow she put on the evening, not an admonition to 'go f*&$ yourself,' although based on your sourpuss estimate of the show, maybe you should have.
