I'm a family doctor, and I just opened up my practice just off the Beltline and Fish Hachery Rd. My practice is a little different -- it is based off of the direct primary care model, where I run a low overhead practice and provide 24/7 access to a small group of patients for a low monthly fee. This is like a “concierge practice,” but designed to be affordable. It is more like a co-op with your doctor.
The main goal of the practice is to provide excellent care at an affordable and predictable cost. I have a database of drug, lab and imaging costs, and can give transparency to an intentionally confusing industry. I can provide labs to my patients at the cost of the lab (usually more than 10 times less expensive than the insurance markup). In addition to saving costs here, I can prevent unnecessary ER visits and hospitalizations by offering direct access to me and same day scheduling.
There is much more detail about my practice on my website, http://www.willschupp.com, and I am more than happy to talk with anyone who has questions. I realize this is a brand new model of care for the Madison area.
