Help! I need to get away!

We want to hear about your adventures, be they from Istanbul, Ixtapa or Ixonia. And hey, you might even find someone you can sell your extra Euros to.

Help! I need to get away!

This is hardly travel, but I want to find a weekend getaway spot for myself, my toddler and husband who hates hates hates crowds. I was looking at the Dells, specifically the Wilderness resort but it looks massive and crazy. But I liked the cozy rooms with fireplace (essential), kitchen (pretty much a must) and toddler swim area (fun). Anyone got ideas for me?? I'm going crazy!

Galena, IL has become a favorite of our family - myself, my wife, two-year old child and four-year old black lab.

Granted, we stay at my wife's parent's house in the Eagle Ridge Territory, but there's an inn there, that has an indoor pool, work-out area, spa and pretty nice restaurant: http://www.eagleridgeresortonline.com/

Galena has some good restaurants and shopping if you're into that sort of thing. It can be crowded though.

My parents went to Galena for a weekend trip a couple weeks back. Of course it is somewhat nicer in the warmer months as you can walk around town and window-shop, but there are great restaurants and nice B&Bs.

You could try the Green Lake area. I've stayed at the HEIDEL HOUSE RESORT
and it's OK. I'm sure there are B&B's too.

Very quiet this time of the year.
