I prefer the Sun era Elvis and really don't care that much about Elvis kitsch. The cost of Graceland and missing other great Memphis landmarks in our limited time there outweighed seeing gold cars and furniture as well as the shitter he died on. At Sun I saw plenty-his diploma, his trading cards, the control room and studio his first singles were recorded in, I heard recordings of him with Cash, Carl and the Killer, and I got to hold one of the mics he sang into. That was pretty cool. And our tour guide did a great job of commemorating his death.
