I enjoy reading Kid's books !

What books, zines or other pulp are you reading? What aren't you reading? What should everyone else read?

I enjoy reading Kid's books !

Maybe it's because I read so slow or because I read them to my kid simon sometimes or maybe it's because I'm a kid at heart but whatever the reason I enjoy kid's books

I have set this up to be a serious page about kid's books you have enjoyed in the past or are reading now.

I will be posting here now and then but lets not talk about our artwork or music but instead lets talk about fun kid's books we are reading.

I'll start by talking about Allen Say the author.

I recently read most of his children's books they have at the local library and have really enjoyed some of the emotions expressed from the mixing up of asian and american cultures in his stories.

One that I really enjoyed was Kamishibai Man who is a street performer who tells stories to the kids until TV comes and then no more kids come.

I think I like it because I perform on State street myself.

Another one that was fun was How My Parents Learned to Eat.

How My Parents Learned to eat is about 2 people in love trying to impress each by eating in the style of the other person.

Allen Say's books talk about nature, holidays, moving back and forth, and families.

They have romance, happiness and sadness.

They help people understand what it is like to see America from an asian perspective.

For younger kids:

"Pajama Time" by Sandra Boynton
"I Live In Brooklyn" by Mari Takabayashi
"What Was I Scared Of?" by Theo Seuss

For older kids, "The Hoboken Chicken Emergency," "Fat Men From Space," "Birdman" or really anything by D.M. Pinkwater, especially "Lizard Music."
