Watchable Sitcoms

How can cultural elitists like ourselves put TV in the Culture category? Well, where the hell else is it going to fit?

Any more opinions on the British Office?
I'm thinking that might be next for us.

Oh yes.

It's not for everybody, it's kinda painful to watch some of the office pranks. I binge-watched both seasons because Ricky Gervais kills me when he talks like Anthony Robbins. I'll watch the whole series again.

"Fawlty Towers" is a chuckle and a half.

"Curb Your Enthusiasm" is funny, forgot about that one.

Ya, I'll watch "Married with Children" - you got a problem with that?

Oh shit, speaking of Ed O'Neill, "Modern Family" is excellent.

How I wait for it Met Your Mother is the bomb! Barney rocks. Did anybody watch the Tonys? I had to work a special event.

I love the American Office, but it's over sadly. 2 Broke Girls and the Mindy Project are my fav sitcoms now. Frasier reruns. Cartoons like Family Guy and South Park. But the real fun is reality shows: Duck Dynasty, Hardcore Pawn, and Storage Wars. Now that's quality TV!

Curb Your Enthusiasm is mostly just swearing and yelling at each other. It's a dumb show, not as good as Seinfeld.

I'm a nobody with certain tastes, but IMO the British Office is close to the best TV show in the last 10+ years. I can't think of any show in that era that I think is better.

Watch it with the captions on so you can be sure not to be thrown off by the accents. Also, not a bad idea to have the computer near by to UTFG to figure out the references.

Curb is good (at least the first few seasons - haven't seen it all).

I also HIGHLY recommend the first three seasons of Arrested Development, there's so much to it that cannot possibly be absorbed on one viewing.

If you end up liking Gervais, hunt down Extras. Very good, fun to see a ton of stars playing caricatures of themselves.

Finally a show for people that think Two and a half Men doesn't have enough jokes about sex... :)

It's a sketch show, not a sitcom, but Amy Schumer's weekly show on comedy central slays me. Sick humor delivered with such delicate insensitivity.

I'm a Letterman fan, but shouldn't Johnny Carson be there? I suppose the award is for writing, maybe either is dubious.

I'm putting in a request for The Dame Edna Experience, Married with Children, and Magnum, P.I.

MASH hasn't aged as well as some shows on the list. SNL seems high from a writing standpoint. And while Band of Brothers is among my favorite things to watch, I don't know if it is fair to compare what is more of a movie with a weekly show.

I agree that M*A*S*H has not aged well; a lot of the 70's humor played on societal changes and now falls flat. "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" or "Bob Newhart" aren't as funny as I remember them. Looking at the list, very few shows would I even try to watch, but these might tempt me:

2. Seinfeld
11. The Simpsons
17. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart
21. 30 Rock
30. Curb Your Enthusiasm
33. Star Trek
34. Modern Family
35. Twin Peaks
58. Fawlty Towers
70. The Andy Griffith Show
76. I, Claudius
78. The Odd Couple
79. Alfred Hitchcock Presents
79. Monty Python’s Flying Circus
83. Get Smart
94. Will & Grace
98. Late Night with David Letterman
98. Louie

Twin Peaks is definitely worth a watch if you haven't seen it.

Sit back and enjoy David Lynch at his finest. I saw the show as a teen and to this day it's still the best tv show I've ever seen.
