LOST

How can cultural elitists like ourselves put TV in the Culture category? Well, where the hell else is it going to fit?

Opinion on Lost?

This show is a sign that the TV show as an art form is not dead.

kind of a a stinker of an episode to have to stay up late for.

kate is way dumb.

locke is even dumber.

last minute countdown rescues from chemical explosions are beyond cliche.

I have a theory that the combination to Ben's safe is the human proportions of a Barbie doll - 38-15-23.

Last night's episode was brutal. I realize they have a lot of ground to cover to get to the season finale in 5 episodes instead of 8, but I won't complain if that means getting something this actionpacked once in a while.

the Ben Flash was great. Being positioned as the show's villain, I enjoy seeing more of him. We found out why Sayid is helping him. Its not clear how he got off the island, but he doesn't seem sure either so I guess its fair.

The big money moment was the smoke monster being called and then proceeding to knock the shit out of those guys. Heroic moment, since we like those guys less than Ben and they killed Alex and Rosseau. Ben facing down Widmore was another Ben hero moment. After all thise time of me kinda hating the guy, is it possible he'll be heroic in the end? Has Ben been right to do what he does? Sure he's a creep, but I find Widmore's band a lot more troubling than Ben's others.

Not if his ultimate aim puts him in direct opposition to Desmond. As much as Ben endeared himself to us last night, there's no character who is closer to being universally beloved than Desmond.

it seems strange to me, if widmore is really being set up as the main villain, how little we are shown of him, and how mild he has been so far in all the clips.
what i'm saying is, so far i don't give a shit about him either way, and to me that means he's either a red herring, or just a really slow starter.

Yeah, I'm ready to stop pushing the button and let a prisoner out of the armory. God you're a fucking tool. It's a TV show.

In news that is actually worthwhile to read, Emilie de Ravin was just cast in Public Enemies. No word if she'll be filming any scenes in Wisconsin.

Says the man who can't seem to find the Shift key.

Thanks, Shipley. I got the heads-up about that post just after it went up. Pretty cool. Too bad we can't infer what it means for Claire, since she's not shooting for LOST right now anyway. Since I'm trying to stay spoiler-clean this season, it's just as well.

Emperor Joseph II: My dear young man, don't take it too hard. Your work is ingenious. It's quality work. And there are simply too many notes, that's all. Just cut a few and it will be perfect.

Mozart: Which few did you have in mind, Majesty?
