Who's your favorite New American Gladiator?

How can cultural elitists like ourselves put TV in the Culture category? Well, where the hell else is it going to fit?

Who's your favorite New American Gladiator?

From the looks of these new guys I gotta go with Wolf right off the bat. Although there's some hope for the somewhat exotic Toa.

Where's Mike Adamle? How can you do American Gladiators without him?

Toa's got a "palace guard from Stargate" kind of look going on. Could be scary to see that, although the pop culture cachet of AG has to weigh in a little in the ability of the gladiators to intimidate ("which one are you? Max Power?"). I might crack up looking at Wolf (although smiles may fade depending on how hard these guys are allowed to hit).

They may have changed the color of the pads, but the joust weapons still look like Q-tips.

My pet name for Siren is Silicon.*

My favorite part was when Charlie went America all over everybody's ass.

Then he got fork stabbed.

Priceless.

She's also a highly regarded MMA fighter. Definitely my favorite all things considered. No one really stood out last night.

Beer Moon seems to think that It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia is American Gladiators?

After watching I have to go with my initial thought but Wolf wins over Toa because Wolf doesn't wear a loin cloth.

The new gladiators are WEAK. Hopefully they'll toughen up in future episodes, but the way they got punked and disqualified themselves several times in the premiere episode doesn't sit well with me.

Here is my opinion after the three or four minutes I managed to stay on the channel:

They should cancel this show and bring it back when they can get some writers to give the contestants and gladiators something interesting to say. Otherwise, just treat them for the HGH/steriod gobbling attention whores that they are and get them to shut the fuck up.

In my first flip to the channel, I saw a woman win on the dangling wrestling circle, and then proclaim that this was the best thing that had ever happen to her in her life.

Did that firefighter guy actually say he grew up idolizing the gladiators? There was an exchange between he and the dude with glasses where the firefighter basically sounded like a complete twat.

I'll paraphrase it:
To the other contestant: "I'm better, stronger, and faster than you and I want it more and I have more talent, and there's no way you're going to win."
To Wolf: "Fuck me in my man pussy."

However, it is good to know that after only a couple hundred years, horse collars and codpieces are back in vogue.
