WPT/Channel 21 pledge time musings....

How can cultural elitists like ourselves put TV in the Culture category? Well, where the hell else is it going to fit?

WPT/Channel 21 pledge time musings....

Perhaps someone can shed light upon what to me is an enduring mystery:

WHY oh why does WHA-TV (AKA WPT AKA Channel 21 in Madison) run SO MUCH totally different, special (SIC) programming when it is in pledge drive mode?

And to add insult to injury, why is the "special" stuff such bilge? I would describe it as leftovers from the clearance table at, say, Family Dollar Store, or the content of the stuff featured in "paid programming" adverts, overnight filler on the commercial channels. It belongs on something named, say, "The Wal-Mart Channel" as far as I'm concerned.

What do I not understand?

It's WPT's way of reminding the key demographic to include them in their wills, as they sit around the common area TV in the assisted living home.
