Girls

How can cultural elitists like ourselves put TV in the Culture category? Well, where the hell else is it going to fit?

Girls

I like the way that they walk... bom bom bom bom bom... and it's chill to hear them talk... bom bom bom bom bom...

Anyway, just caught the second episode of Girls.

Would appear as if HBO has lined up yet another winner.

Who's watching?

I just watched all 3 episodes last night. I think it's a winner. I was prepared not to like it but find myself looking forward to watching it again. I think it is well-written and I like the fresh perspective idea. I'm not sure Hannah's boyfriend could be any more of a douche, however.

I'm watching, and liking it, but it's too soon to tell if it's going to be 100% win. One thing's for sure: Lena Dunham is just as talented and perceptive as I suspected after watching Tiny Furniture. And I find this cast far more relatable than their oft-compared HBO counterparts in Sex and the City- although oddly when I watched SATC I was in the Girls cast's age range, and vice versa.

Least favorite aspect of the show, hands down: Hannah's boyfriend (probably my least favorite because he seems the least authentic).
Favorite aspect of the show: Uncanny depiction of young female friendships.

I watched the first episode because the gf had it on. I had heard of it but dismissed it as a, well... girl's show.

Each episode gets better and better and while maybe technically a girl's show, it's so well written and hilarious that any man comfortable enough in his own skin should love it too. Anyone missing this show is missing out. I can't think of many shows to say that about. There's really something here.

Props to Dunham for not only her writing, acting, directing, etc, chops... but also for her fearlessness to expose her less-than-svelte frame in all it's fleshy glory.

Plus the series has left it's viewers with one burning question that I hope will be answered by season's end...

Just what exactly is that stuff that gets up around the sides of condoms??

Alright now, with all the buzz and accolades... plus Rolling Stone calling it the best show on TV, please tell me more people are watching.

Probably not. It's some kind of show right?

It is. A cable show, which means we have to wait until Netflix gets around to burning a disc. (Quite an overwheming techncial feat, it appears.)

It is worth watching. Some day we hope to receive season 2.
