What I learned on Jeopardy

How can cultural elitists like ourselves put TV in the Culture category? Well, where the hell else is it going to fit?

What I learned on Jeopardy

The first presidential nominating convention was held by the Anti-Masonic Party for the 1832 elections.

Ever try the psychic option for final jeopardy? You guess the question after you see the category but before you see answer.

I think contestants that do this should get to bet 3 or 4 times the amount they have.

I've only ever got it once, circa 1986.

Category was "The Supreme Court"

Anyone care to try?

That was from yesterday's show, wasn't it? That was quite possibly the most idiotic wagering I've ever seen on Final Jeopardy, and that's saying something. I'm amazed that such seemingly intelligent people suddenly become clueless when it comes to betting on the final question.

Once I was at a gathering where they were asking a series of trivia questions for prizes. I wasn't answering any, as they were pretty easy, and the crowd (and question writer) were not big trivia fans.

Then the question came up.. "On Happy Days.."

And I immediately said "Chuck".

Watching the group's reaction to that was fun.

Hardee's and Carl's Jr. fast food joints are siblings, even sharing a logo.

My question: Who is/was Carl's Sr.?

So I was lucky enough to leave from work a little early on Friday, just in time to catch Jeopardy! I tried this psycic option.

Category: British History

My Answer: Henry IV

Correct Answer: Magna Carta

I can see why you only got this once.

Happy Belated Birthday, Mr. Trebek!

Anybody catch yesterday's Jeopardy, eh?

Final Jeopardy! Round

POLITICAL LITERATURE:

The key message to this title figure in an Italian work is "it is far safer to be feared than loved"

'80s SITCOM CHARACTERS:
Creator Gary David Goldberg wrote this Republican character as unsympathetic, but the actor made him lovable

[Hint: The actor (not the character) was my first celebrity crush.
Any BttF fans out there?]

Julia Collins is kicking some serious ass on Jeopardy. If she wins today, she'll be tied for the second most consecutive victories with 19. And she's not just sliding by, either, most of her wins have been runaways.
