Time for John Matthews to Retire

Postby Bill Rotherman » Wed Apr 04, 2007 7:12 am

John Matthews is doing a terrible disservice to Madison's teachers. Today he's on the radio saying Maya Cole has "connections to Karl Rove."

Mr. backhanded, slimy politics, Matthews that is, is a little sore over his loss last night. The teachers need an honest, credible representative. They sure don't have it right now.

Dementia overtaking John Matthews

Postby bada_bingus » Thu Apr 05, 2007 11:24 am

Rainwater's reluctance to confront MTI has allowed Matthews to remain in the shadows for several years. While good for labor peace, that strategy may have provided too much cover for MTI's curmudgeonly leader.

While out of the spotlight, ol' John has apparently been slipping into dementia as evidenced by his wingnut conspiracy theory linking Cole to Rove. But don't fear: he has better health insurance than doctors can afford and will be getting the very best care from his Cadillac plan from WPS.

Simply as a public relations move, MTI should look into getting a fresh voice into the job.

As an aside, does anyone know what role (if any) MTI has in selecting/suggesting a new superintendent?

While anyone can suggest, only the elected school board decides.

Thanks.

I guess what I am asking is how strongly MTI has "suggested" in the past.

The thing that surprises me is that anyone would be
surprised at what Matthews' says.

So, if he is all bluster and everyone tunes him out, would it not make more sense to have someone more effective?

Sheesh, if Matthews retires, and Rainwater retires, who will there be left to hate?

Not Carstensen or Robarts, since they've left. I have faith in us though. I am sure we will find someone else to hate, and right quick as well.

Point of Information: Carstensen is still on the board.

I don't hate Rainwater, but it's getting close to that with respect to Matthews.

Oh....I thought she wasn't running again and her seat was vacant. My bad. I guess I can put the hate search on hold for awhile then.

She's still on the board, but I believe not running next time around.

Matthews is the executive director of a teachers' union. Shouldn't that decision be left up to the members of that union?

How much of a "decision" do union members get?
