achtung! intense dilaudid-fuelled crude-edism ahead; if your handle is alternate for castor canadensis, fuck off and read something else.
i've had a last-minute change of heart on this one; i am glad i did not write for an absentee ballot whilst over in croatia in early january and send it back because up until about two weeks ago i was dead set against the whole thing, but i realise that my personal objection to gambling doesn't change the fact that a lot of the damage is already done and it is a race issue -- call me a zippererhead if u like, but that's what my gut tells as well as my head. i also would give both kerry and bush passes on coveting thy neighbour's wife and doing what they could to oppose the idiotic war in viet nam, although the sensitivities of the veterans of the conflict, including a number of my in-laws, are important as well. and such a match-up would make me hope for an independent midwestern-regionalist and c.d. candidate. not me, for the same reason as the current gov of california by the way.
and i would have voted for gephardt not knowing he would be out by now. poor gephardt. the last of the old-time farmer & labour-type folks like humphrey and eugene mc carthy. or is he? i think i'll vote for rev. sharpton now. cancel n.a.f.t.a. -- yeah! people piss and moan about what he did years ago, but then look at it this way: in 2002, which candidate for president of france was the only one who wanted to bring back the franc and generally get the tentacles of bruxelles out of french life? jean-marie le pen! at least he waxed lionel jospin in the 21.iv.2002 first round, who would have been the worst of the top three. if yer gonna make an omlette u've gotta break some eggs! i know i'm not the only r.p.r. (chirac) supporter who laughed his arse off when that happened! i saw a poll once again saying that more than 60 per cent of germans wanted to do away with the "tuero" and go back to the deutsche mark, even with the almost 30 per cent appreciation which took place since deutsche welle and/or the sÃ?ÂŒddeutsche zeitung took the first poll like that in july 2002. damn straight!
then there's congressman kucinich; the word on the street is that he is only pro-choice, anti-abortion, or a croat when it comes time to collect cheques from certain constituents in the cleveland area. a trifle harsh, maybe, but of the two who threatened to cancel n.a.f.t.a. i think rev. sharpton needs the votes more.
for years i have harangued state officials from around here, milwaukee, the fox valley and wausau-mosinee way about moving the presidential preference vote into february or even december or january. especially getting it out of the way of the april general. now that they did it, wisconsin is relevant again for the first time since before i lived here. and our local officials will be decided by *us*, not people in manchester, new hampshire or des moines, iowa as much as i love both those places.
