So the goal post has been officially moved?

Anything to evade the central issue: Walker's "plan" has been a complete failure at its stated goal.

The real goal, to cultivate a buzz for his 2016 presidential campaign, is working out just fine.

Even if the mine isn't mired in lawsuits, it will be years before a single real job is created, before its apparent that boom and bust has been an economic disaster. But in 2015 the "buzz" will be that he can steamroll over the commies and "get things done". The conservative base will be drooling.

So he said it but really didn't mean it. I guess it's just shit he said to get elected and then not worry about carrying out those "promises"

Typical Walker apologists.

Meade wrote:His promise was to make private sector job creation his number one priority with a goal of 250,000 new jobs by the end of his term. He never "promised" jobs. You are not only disingenuous, you are an outright liar.

Rep. Robin Vos believes Walker made that promise, and wants nothing to do with it.

“But Governor Walker made that promise. Assembly Republicans, we did not make that promise. I don't think my senate colleagues did either. So Governor Walker made the promise, and we want to help him in every action we take.”

Let's see the name-caller label Vos a liar.

I don't know if Vos is a liar (like Hen V) or not. As far as I know, he may simply be passing on the lie that liars (like Hen V) have lied and now continue to lie about.

Wow. Good thing you live within walking distance of the capitol. You can get out there to his office and set him straight.

What will Meade do next?

1) go talk with Robin Vos;

2) claim the report of what Vos said is a lie;

3) dream up some other grounds for a personal attack on HV;

4) turn the discussion into an attempt to determine who said "lie" first;

5) post a link to Blaska's blog;

or...

6) disappear for a few days like he did after the Intrade debacle.

Nah, that's too much to hope for.

Meade's attempt to rewrite history here is certainly entertaining. But this graph posted by Steve V makes clear how badly Walker et al. have screwed up:

All of the states surrounding Wisconsin have been gaining jobs while Wisconsin's been hemorrhaging jobs.

Walker has tried to blame Wisconsin's job losses on things like the national economic downturn, health care reform, and whatnot. But all of Wisconsin's neighboring states are managing to grow. Why is Wisconsin doing so abysmally?

If Walker didn't exactly promise 250,000 jobs, then we still have to agree that he said creation of those jobs (and the number was "a floor, not a ceiling") was his first priority. And it looks like he is going to fail at his "first priority."

So he's not a "liar." He's an incompetent.

Much better.

I'll give it a shot. Maybe because Walker managed to piss off so many of his constituents that they rose up against him en masse, causing state businesses and businesses considering moving into the state to doubt his ability to govern?

Maybe because Walker is trying to turn Wisconsin into a low-taxes, low-services state and if we're on the path to becoming Wississippi, we aren't a very attractive place to locate a business or to move to?

Come on Hank, Christian Schneider says Walker is vindicated:

For instance, in 2011, Wisconsin was in the top quarter in the nation in per-capita income growth; this would be extremely unlikely in a state losing that many jobs. The same is true for general fund revenue projections; sales, income, and corporate tax collections at the time were all up, leading to a surplus of $154 million. If there were 30,000 fewer taxpayers in Wisconsin, that type of growth would be impossible. Koskinen largely blamed the change in benchmarking, comparing using two quarters of data to "moving the spot of the ball" in football.

Thursday's federal report vindicates what Walker and Koskinen had been saying all along: While the economy isn't where anyone would like it to be, jobs have been growing at a reasonable clip. On March 28, BLS will release the QCEW data for the last three months of 2012, which will provide an even more accurate picture of the jobs picture over the past year. Perhaps it will show Walker has found a good number of the 150,000 jobs that went missing while Doyle was governor.
