A contrite apology from Solomon would have gone a long way.

Doesn't he know the public forgives most anything, as long as you admit it?

Now he is dishonest (in addition to scuzzy) by trying to deny it.

Trying to deny it? He acknowledged things happened, just not how Berg described them.

T'was not Berg who recounted:

- Solomon going into the women's restroom
- the drunken stumble in search of Berg's keys

Solomon is playing this as if he did nothing wrong because criminal charges were not brought.

Do you really see nothing wrong with his behavior otherwise?

Not sure if it reaches the level of needing him to resign, but an admission of remorse would not kill him.

Is his ego really that big?

Certainly not typical, but not necessarily nefarious either.

What about it?

That seems to be Solomon's take on it as well.

I'll remind you how this thread started:

jjoyce wrote:What I'm amazed by is how these alders apparently pack away the booze.

What's not in dispute is how, following a council meeting, the alders adjourned to Brocach. ... then a small group extended the evening with a trip to the Bayou for Hurricanes. Ever had one? Ever had two? Not many have two and then exercise good judgment. Apparently, at least one alder thought it was acceptable to drive in this state and another announced that he needed to "sober up" before driving home.

Nice.

It's encouraging that some on the council -- Cnare and Bidar-Sielaff -- are working toward defining ethical boundaries, but it's amazing that it hasn't been done sooner. Anyone who has any knowledge of workplace ethics and safety would recognize a downtown bar crawl as something to avoid.

We're right back where we started: general agreement about the drinking/driving thing, not about much else.

And that's where it'll stay.

Adults scolding other adults about their sexual behavior is like the Republican presidential debates -- it's mostly about people staking out a platform for themselves. Nobody's going to apologize for anything.

I pretty much agree with Sno's summation on the previous page. The one thing that I want to add is that I did not agree with, but forgave Chris Schmidt's vote on the Edgewater TIF. With his signature on the "you should resign" letter, I'll vote for anyone that opposes him in my aldermanic district. This country has courts of law for a reason. Solomon did not "escape justice" due to a stupid jury. Even a biased prosecutor didn't think she could get a conviction. That's a pretty big deal.

Anyway Chris, I'd vote for a monkey before I'll vote for you again.

Not from Solomon though. He acts as if it didn't happen.

Unlike Obama
(hey, you started it with the Republican comment).

The local pols who signed this letter are some of the most well known craven pols in the county. Lisa Subeck ran for office like a half dozen times before getting herself elected. Alds. Bridget Maniaci, Tim Bruer, and Mark Clear (The Edgewater Three) along with county Sup. Carousel Bayrd also would top anyone's list of most self-serving politicians. Solomon is on his way out due to re-districting so why not throw him under the bus? Good politics.

I don't know Chris Schmidt, Steve King and Analiese Eicher.

Madison Common Council punts:

Cnare believes the discussion is over — for now. "I think it's over until something happens again," she said.
