Unless the janitor works for the UW and therefore is a government unionist. The UW just shot out another 5.5% tuition increase. That makes it what, 6 years straight of 5% plus cost increases?

I'd love to have been a janitor at the UW or any other government agency. Come to think of it, the UAW too.

Are you actually suggesting that a 5.5% tuition increase translates directly to a raise for the janitor?

Talk about zero knowledge of how the world works.

Paris Hilton. There are many, many others like her, but you don't often hear their story because they're not famous.

I have no problem with people pursuing riches. I also know that some wealthy people have worked very hard for their money, but there are also wealthy people who don't work very hard and have others manage their affairs and businesses for them. Some of you tools just don't seem to get it.

Sorry, not going to read this whole thread, but... I've been searching for a map, like I've seen in past national elections, that shows a) county size proportional to population or total votes and not to land mass and b) blue/red shading proportional to the margin of victory. Has anyone seen such a map for the recall election?

Interesting, but not quite what I'm looking for.

Something along these lines.

Alright, probably still not what you're looking for, but you might find this useful in trying to understand how the carpet, too, is moving under you, Baby Blue State: http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/news/157659025.html#%21page=2&pageSize=10&sort=newestfirst
You can see how most counties went Republican, how Waukesha delivered vote margins for Republicans almost as big as Milwaukee and Dane did for Democrats, and you can see the extreme concentration of Democratic strength in this election in just two counties.

It’s possible the recall movement just had far less resonance outside Milwaukee and Madison. It’s possible Walker was very effective at running “against” Milwaukee and Madison. It’s possible a lot of out-state voters saw the protests and recalls as over-the-top, and/or were satisfied with Walker’s performance in office. Walker’s massive financial advantage was unquestionably a statewide asset.

But Democrats can’t win in Wisconsin when the political distance between their two big base counties and most of the rest of the state is so great. It has now happened twice in two years, and the problem was even bigger Tuesday than it was in 2010.

"Whitaker had purportedly offered Rev. Jeremiah Wright — an infamous and challenging weight on Obama’s 2008 campaign — $150,000 to stay silent until after the election was over. Wright refused Whitaker’s offer, Klein said.

Also on Monday, White House Dossier reported that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded the UHI a $5.9 million taxpayer grant.

The UHI was originally inspired by a program created by Michelle Obama when she was a highly paid executive at the University of Chicago Medical Center."

Whitaker now leads that project.

HHS insisted that the decision to award the competitive grant to a program run by Obama’s best friend was free from White House involvement.

Obama’s relationship with Whitaker also intersected politically in 2008 when then-Sen. Obama sought to fend off questions regarding his political proximity to Tony Rezko.

Rezko, in his prior role as former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s fundraiser and adviser, had his business associates appointed to various positions and boards in the state. Using that leverage, Rezko was able to illegally demand financial kickbacks from businesses looking to set up shop in Illinois.

Obama said in a 2008 interview with the Chicago Sun-Times that he could only recall speaking to Rezko about filling a state job one time — when he recommended Whitaker be hired as Illinois’ director of public health.

“Somebody who I do remember talking directly to Tony [Rezko] about was Dr. Eric Whitaker,” Obama told the Sun-Times.

OK, then you have heard about nepotism. Great! we are all agreed that wealth does not correctly directly with hard work.

But for some reason you seem to have quite a problem with WHAT people CHOOSE to do with the wealth they have earned.

That's such a leftist territory, if you're not one, you may want to reconsider your position.

If I give you something, it's no strings attached. It's yours, do with it whatever you want. If you choose to give it to someone else, say your kids or a neighbor, I won't come back and want it back or want to take half of it back.

But then again, this is all about whose money it is in the first place............private property or "communal"?

Caesar gets paid first. You have no claim to "your" money until after Caesar gets his. The fact that you exist here is your agreement to this social contract, there is no "opt out." Your "wage" as quoted to you includes your portion to support yourself, as well as the portion you owe to support Caesar's needs. It is never meant to be all for you.

" Green Energy: The Obama administration short-cutted bureaucratic procedures to slide billions of dollars to allies of the Democratic Party who ran “green energy” scams. Some of them went out of business, costing the taxpayers billions. Worse, many of them did not, which means that the energy markets have been distorted by government favoritism so that someone else–someone who hadn’t contributed enough to the Democratic Party and the Obama campaign–was, perhaps, driven out of business instead. “Green energy” is the worst example of government cronyism in American history."

Just don't make him pay taxes. He hates that.

And you seriously believe the contributions of the coal and petroleum industries haven't distorted the energy market?
