Pocan's big can of whoop-ass

Postby bdog » Tue Aug 14, 2012 9:51 pm

How much of it was backlash against Roys' negative campaign?

My vote was.

It was going to come down to Roys or Pocan for me. I would have given Roys more consideration had she used a more positive approach. I understand why she thought she had to go negative, but it backfired. I was impressed with Silverman as a thoughtful candidate with a positive approach.

The smear tactics did it for me, too...soured on Roys shortly thereafter.

Yeah, her ads turned me on her.

She should never again work with whomever told her to go negative.

It's possible I'd have voted for Pocan anyway, but her campaign sealed the deal for me. I can only assume that she thought going negative was her only chance. The problem for her now is that large numbers of people have a negative impression of her that may linger and haunt her in future races.

I've always liked Kelda Helen Roys. She did a great job representing her district in the Assembly. So, notwithstanding the advice she took from her campaign consultants, I wouldn't hesitate to vote for her again. However, that begs the question: What office would she run for? When she failed to file for her Assembly seat, Melissa Sargeant jumped in. So I don't see Kelda running for elected office for two years at least.

A pretty incredible can of whoop-ass, did Roys even win her own ward?

Hopefully she learns from it, otherwise, she will likely become the Neuman of the Democratic party. . .

I guess negative ads don't always work...

This shows negative ads don't work in smart places like Madison, but they do in most of the State and country. Also, this shows that PAC funding helps win any where.

I like Kelda and hope she returns to politics. Needs to lose a little weight though.

If she can learn from this, yeah, all for it; however, if she just start pulling a Kathleen attitude, we are better off without her. It really is a shame because this could have been one of the more interesting debates and discussions between lefty candidates for a generation. They really missed an opportunity to create a true response to the Tea Party that might have gone beyond Madison.

I hope the weight comment was not serious.

In a way, it was refreshing to see a woman candidates on the left go negative. It doesn't happen often. I wonder if Kelda was named Keldon whether we would view the negative ads differently.

Her campaign manager weighs about how much?

LeRoy Neiman: [announcing the wrestling match] Now entering the ring, a man who calls himself the ultimate male, World Wrestling Champion, Thunderlips!

Rocky Balboa: [looking at Thunderlips] Wow, he's awful big. Hey, Mick, how much do you think he eats?

Mickey: About 202 pounds.

LeRoy Neiman: Weighing in at 202 pounds...

Mickey: [Mickey smiles and looks at Rocky]

A man running as "Keldon Helen Roys"?

No chance, absolutely no chance.

Think "Brett Suzie Hulsey"
