I know Hulsey handily beat his opponent, but still, I wonder what would have happened otherwise.

Who is Hulsey's opponent in the general?

Unopposed.

New award being minted at this moment for person on TDPF with the least social acumen. You know who I mean.

I am taking no further nominations.

Meade, start a write-in campaign and run against Hulsey. I'm sure you would get at least two votes. Maybe no more than that.

I'm wondering if Meade would even vote for himself. He might find himself too moderate.

I agree with pj. Men cannot be alone with any children but their own/relatives at any time.

And any guy that pays too much attention to kids = usually not good.

That's just the way it is.

So Hulsey knows the kid's grandparents from the neighborhood (per WSJ account) and takes it upon himself to give the little scrunt a scare after observing him bullying 2 girls. Then he takes photos of a sailboat at sunset and the kid is in one of the photos. Yeah, send his ass to Waupun. Better yet, let's ban cameras at the beach. We are scared of our own shadows.

Ha ha. Funny thing is, a few hours ago, I said the very same thing to someone who suggested I run for office. No one would vote for me. I wouldn't even vote for myself.

Inclined to agree...

But that doesn't really explain why he now tells a story neither of the two officers who interviewed him recall him telling.

Weren't you ever corrected by someone other than your parents when you were young? Hell, when I was a kid, it felt like my brothers and I had parents in every house on the block.

Would have been easier if there was fire involved as I wouldn't have had a choice. Different time when we were young.

PJ you did good.

This reminded me of the story with the guy who once owned Rutabaga (kayak and canoe company). He got accused of something weird with a boy, and things got all complicated because on one side it looked like the boy (who was not a baby, but school aged) had entrapped or falsely accused the guy, and on the other side it looked like the guy had been showing the boy porn or something. Much lawyering ensued, the guy did time and I think was later released, and to this day I haven't the slightest idea what was really going on. Does anybody else? I doubt it.

I knew the guy's wife in a professional capacity and she was one decent woman. She divorced him. I don't know what that adds.

But stuff like this can be horribly ambiguous and even the most righteous person can get in a lot of trouble even with the greatest caution. And kids definitely know it, and use it. At least whatever the hell Hulsey was doing happened in a public place, not behind closed doors. I couldn't find the police report -- is it on line, and I didn't do the right search?

The MPD seems to be very selective in which police reports they put online. Couldn't find anything in CCAP either.

I don't think Brett Hulsey is a creep. I think he just lacks common sense.

Here is some personal testimony to that effect:

The truth is I don't know. I don't know what happened and I don't know why these people divorced. They could have started to divorce long before the other part of the story, there could have been a million other factors and reasons. Lives are complex, people are complex.

Sometimes people divorce and can't tell you why in a simple sentence ten years later. You ever get divorced? Don't tell me it's a piece of cake.

And I don't go leaping to conclusions, good or bad, without more evidence than I have here.

And that wasn't even the point of my anecdote. The point was how long-lasting can be the effects of anything regarding questionable behavior with children in today's wildly oversensitive environment, even when the evidence is ambiguous.

Then why did you add that information to your anecdote? You could have easily left it out but you chose not to. There is a reason you put it in.
