I just want to say that I find Jason's title "Manski with a Planski" inspired.

It's quite the who's who. What no Hulsey?

Thank you to my friends in Progressive Dane and in the Green Party, both of which voted to endorse me in the last 24 hours! And thank you to Democratic leaders like Mayor Soglin, Rep. Berceau, Rep. Barca, Rep. Kahl, Sen. Larson, Clerk McDonell, Rep. Black, and many community leaders like Kabzuag Vaj, Nino Amato, Samuel Owens, and of course, Nan Brien, Anne Arnesen and School Board VP Marj Passman for their support! (And if I should be using your name as a supporter, and haven't been, please let me know!)

It's true! I am in. I won't let Scott Walker and the Bradley Foundation shut down public education in Wisconsin.

Just kidding! Have at it boys!

So she sent out an email the day after the primary asking for donations, and then 2 days after the primary, she dropped out of the race....this will now be known as "pulling a Manski." I would love to see her campaign's finance report. Mass mailings and robocalls aren't cheap, and she did both BEFORE the primary.

I'm not going to pile on. I assume this situation wasn't the Manski's first choice, and finding out there was no spot offered in nearby schools came in the last few days. I recall from my own life that people are notified of grad school decisions about mid-February. After that there may be phone calls to clarify situations, so I understand the timeline. I'm sure the Manski's would have preferred a different result.

More scrubbing by Manski. Mine was taken down in 2 minutes, the one above me lasted nearly 40 minutes, honesty is a tough thing:

So if I got this straight, the official story is that on primary election day, Manski had a negative balance in the ol' warchest. After making it through the primary, she sent out a plea for donations to help in the general election, and used it to pay off debts ending up with around a $0 balance. Not unusual for a candidate intending to raise more money after that toward the general election.

There are three scenarios I can think of and this assumes an acceptance letter from UC-Wherever was received prior to all events listed and if a UW acceptance letter had been received they would have stayed at least through the general election:

SCENARIO 1: Before the primary and no letter from UW / won primary / asked and received more money to pay off debt / got rejection letter from UW and dropped out of race.
Analysis: Unfortunate chain of events, questionable but not unethical.

SCENARIO 2: Before the primary and no letter from UW / won primary / got rejection letter from UW / asked and received more money to pay off debt / dropped out of race.
Analysis: Raised money under false pretenses, unethical.

SCENARIO 3: Before the primary and got rejection letter from UW / won primary / asked and received more money to pay off debt / dropped out of race.
Analysis: No intention to run in general election as of the primary. Wasted voters' votes, unethical and shady as fuck.

I hope it's #1. But even in that scenario, she knew there was a possible combination of events that could lead her to drop out of the election and leave town. It's highly questionable that she should even enter the race in the first place, unless they were so sure that Ben would get into UW. This is not what I'd expect from the wife of a former vice-presidential candidate.
