Smashy-smashy!

What are the things that puzzle, enrage, delight and tickle you as you go about your life in Madison?

  • Tom Petersson plays Waterstone these days. Like it matters.
  • Doug Pinnick is a freakin' rock god, not necessarily because of his bass playing, which is good, but more because of his song writing, amazingly soulful voice, and incredible live presence and energy.
  • I cannot believe King's X was just in town with fuckin' Accept. Jesus Christ on a tap-dancing cracker. I wanted to see them, but will not travel to Scatz and pay $35 for an opening set.
  • The idea that only multiples of four is non-wankery is fucking laughable. The instrument is a tool. The player him/herself determines his/her own toolness. Not to be confused with Tool. Petersson has/had four/five/eight/ten (five times two) and 12 strings, if he's the standard to be judged (not my standard). Oh, and at one time 18 (six times three).
  • There is no last bullet point.
That is all.

Well, fuck it then. I'm going to use my time more wisely by volunteering to canvas for Barrett because he's pro-nuke rather than wasting it as your set up man.

Props for using "non-wankery" and "tool" in one post, though.

I didn't hear about that until too late. If the link below is accurate, it was far from a standard opening set:

14 songs w/encore, only 3 of which I consider so-so songs. Looks like it was a good show. Dangit.

Basses not in multiples of 4 strings are worthless. I will spit on them. Petersson can play whatever the hell he wants though, because he is the best. (He may have played other goofy permutations, but he always comes back to 12- or 4-string.)

Also, those Waterstone guitars and basses look slick.

Ok, I give up. Your compelling arguments have thoroughly convinced me, and I've become a Hagström man. (The umlauts are never optional.)

RAWK!

Tonight I will convert it to a 36-string bringer of blissful pain.

Also, Igor: That would have been a sweet show, dammit. I might have even stuck around for a few of Accept's tunes just for the hell of it.

I wouldn't mod that Hagstrom, they're pretty nice.

Is this a publicity still from Saw 3D? It looks like the last thing someone chained to a post in a basement would see after their ride in the "Free Candy" van.

How much do you want for that amp?!?! And those glasses?!?!

Tom Petersson wouldn’t have missed that car with his bass, regardless of the make and model.

I see. Do you also often confuse John Paul Jones for Michael Anthony?

Oh no, one was a Revolutionary War naval hero and other was a Roman general.

So close. As it turns out, however, Mark Antony did indeed play a mean 5-string in Cleopatra's first band before their torrid love affair broke them up like Fleetwood Mac.
