Smashy-smashy!

What are the things that puzzle, enrage, delight and tickle you as you go about your life in Madison?

Ah, quite the shame. Not even photos or a chalk outline of the deceased?

And may I suggest one of these for your collection?

It's got only one string, requires no tuning, no truss rod... AND easy to smash! Sooo punk.

Man, I've never smashed any sort of instrument on stage ever. (I don't really play guitar but play bass often, and also keyboard & sax.)

I don't think I've ever even SEEN someone in a band smash an instrument. If not for photos, I would think the whole phenomenon was made up. I had a doofus roommate once who smashed his guitar in our living room, but that was pretty awkward looking and in no way cool.

The thing I'm wondering about this guy is, did he have an amp with him? I mean, who whips their bass out in public sans amplification (unless it was an upright, but that seems unlikely too).

I never had a problem with my Rickenbacker 4001s with dual truss rods...wish I never had sold it.

I didn't know you were in a skiffle band!!! You looked young back then, before you started losing all your hair, I mean.

chimp butt...wait, that didn't come out right.

You sold a 4001? Good lord man, what were you on?

...I mean, ahem, that's good! You can always replace that useless four-string with one of these babies. But why stop there?

Can we get super serious here for a second? You need one of these:

Cause man, this guy is likely the best bassist to walk the earth. I mean, just look at him.

Thank you for backing me up on this.

Ha! ZIIIING!

Amongst my crowd, I often find myself defending Clapton from naysayers, and Exhibit A is always Cream. But it's Disraeli Gears, 'cuz man... Hank... Fresh Cream really kinda sucks.

C'mon. Fresh Cream is half-great. I Feel Free, N.S.U., uh ... wait. Those weren't on the "real"/UK version of the album because they were a single. Never mind.

"I Feel Free" was single-only, but "N.S.U." is the leadoff track on the album proper. (The US version swaps in "I Feel Free" but omits "Spoonful.") "Free" is alright, I guess, but hardly what I would cite as an example of why Cream was great. "Sleepy Time Time" and "I'm So Glad", on the other hand, are great ways to shut down anyone telling you they were always great. Yeccch.

Fresh Cream isn't so much bad as just plain boring, a greater sin for a so-called supergroup, if you ask me. But all is forgiven, as Disraeli Gears is a total stunner. Of course, after that, it's pretty much all downhill again...

All you Cream/gear nerds need to be put under a gentle lockdown.

Otherwise you might infect the population at large. And then where would we be?

We'd all be one big, happy supergroup.
A veritable Foron-Star Orchestra.

At least until we imploded, because that's what supergroups do.

Bluesman Skip James, who wrote "I'm So Glad," hated the Cream version too. At least until the royalty checks started coming in.
I bet you know his Wisconsin connection.

Band name.

I'll see your McDonald's straw and raise you a didgeridoo.
Also: Cream fuckin' rocked. Jack Bruce could pin Paul Simonon with his mind.

As much as this pains me to say, Jesus would be a drummer. Because, as the saying goes, your band is only as good as your drummer. And Jesus would rock your socks off in the most divine way...way more than that kid down in Georgia who made the Devil his bitch.

Dave Esmond and I were talking and we liked the band name Key Party although Level of Fuckery would make a good Nu Metal name, as long as they had a DJ, of course.

Didgeridoo...figures you like it big Down Under, Size Queen. I'm in the Entwhistle camp. At least Simonon can smash a bass get away with it Scot-free.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised by now that every single thing has already been thought of, an it's already online.

Size queen? You're the one with a thing for the guy called The Ox and Thunderfingers.
Didgeridoos have that lip-quivering vibration that makes me want to get out of bed in the morning.
