Driving the Beltline is becoming ridiculously dangerous

People follow too close, don't pay attention.

I hate driving the beltline.

Oh, that was you.

Seriously, though, is the beltline the only place you drive? Cause that's the way it is everywhere.

I understand that some people want to drive the speed limit. Maybe you're trying to cut back on fossil fuel usage, or maybe you've got too many points on your license as it is and you don't need another ticket. I get that.

Just get the hell out of the left lane, okay?

Better take the dirty back road instead.

My complaint with the Beltline is all the drivers hanging in the right lane.

Drivers heading west all in the right lane when you're trying to merge on at John Nolan or Rimrock. Perhaps they are exiting at the next exit? No, they aren't exiting until Verona Road or further, but dammit, they are in the right lane and they are staying there.

ALL UP IN MY GRILL IN THE RIGHT LANE!

Or maybe we have a family that we don't wish to put in danger.
I don't drive slow at all, not sure where you got that from.
It's not that hard to NOT drive like a moron. Seriously, get off the phone, slow down... you don't have to get places at fast as the car will take you there.

Yesterday, trapped in the midst of a convoy of Winnebagoes each towing an SUV merging from I-90 onto the south beltline, I found myself wishing for $8 a gallon gasoline. Where were they all going? Heading for an abandoned Esso station to revive the dinosaur and force a hapless virgin to mate with it in a demonic marriage emceed by Vincent Price?

There seems to be an RV convention at the Alliant Center. And not just RVs, but the kind that are bigger than many homes. It appears if you own an RV this large, you can't just tow a regular car behind it. It needs to be something no smaller than a Ford Escape.

I drive the Belt daily. This morning was an exception, not just because there was some sort of horrifying accident near Stoughton Road that happened just as I was exiting, but because there must be a full moon or something. Everyone was changing lanes in front of me only to hit the brakes for some unknown reason. People were on the phone with one hand and eating a donut with the other. Many were just plain clueless.

It was a weird morning to be driving.

I think I passed the same group around Columbus. They were headed south on 151 around 10:30 or 11:00. There were a BUNCH of 'em. And what's with the SUVs? It looked like just about every one was pulling a Honda CRV (as far as I could tell, as I was headed north).

edit: Maybe they were Escapes or similar. They all looked the same, though. And maybe not the "same group" of vehicles, based on jj's post.

OMG, they're breeding! I'd recommend running for the hills, but that's obviously where they're headed....

I was on the I-94 for a long time this weekend. I can't believe the number of SUVs on the road. And not Honda CR-V SUVs, the BIG ones; Suburbans, Tahoes, Sequoias, etc.

I'm not exaggerating when I say 80% of the vehicles I saw were monster SUVs.

We need to stop subsidizing gas/oil.

Republicans consider that a tax increase for some odd reason and just took our country to the brink of default in it's defense.

Even at its worst, the Beltline is nothing. Ever driven around Atlanta?
