Troy Davis Vigil?

If it's news, but not politics, then it goes here.

Troy Davis Vigil?

Postby JohnWS » Wed Sep 21, 2011 12:44 pm

Does anyone know of a local vigil for Troy tonight? I would like to recognize this horrible moment with others.

I believe there's at least one vigil going on tonight; I found a FB page for one at the Library Mall, 7-8pm.

Here's the link:

The guy got his day with the SCOTUS for cripes sake. Save your simpathy for victims, not perps.

Its "sympathy".
My sympathy is for the Davis family, who know that Troy was a victim of an egregious justice system.

Also for the family and friends of Mark MacPhail, whose killer is almost certainly running free and will never be held accountable.

Ned thinks the two-thirds of death sentences that are reversed on appeal (often resulting in life sentences or less), and the over 100 individuals released from death row due to their innocence, means no innocent person has ever been executed.

Wrong, Henry. Ned doesn't get that far into the consideration. He simply doesn't care when innocent people die unless it benefits his political cause. Besides, Troy Davis doesn't look like Ned so he was probably guilty of something, if not murder.

The guy got his say over and over, including in front of the SCOTUS. By any measure, he received his day in court and a trial by his peers.

He was deemed guilty and received his punishmnet.

End of story.

See now, there's why I can't make it as a sock puppet handler.

Even if I was pretending to be this person, even if it was all an act, if I had typed that and sent it out for other people to read, I still wouldn't be able to sleep nights.

And yet, some of us can.

You think citing SCOTUS helps your position? The ruling from that completely corrupt and incompetent body is all the more reason to stay the state-sponsored murder.

The guy never got a fair say. Despite the tremendous failure in evidence, he never got another fair trial. The state was never required to reprove his guilt, he was required to prove his innocence. That's not fair.

He was. Over and over.

Time to move on to your next "victim" to sob over. You and Al Sharpton and Alec Baldwin.

I always thought Ned was just a shallow-thinking doofus. Now he's revealed a revolting lack of basic humanity. Casually dismissing the state sponsored murder of a man failed by the "justice" system is beyond contemptible. I guess this sorry excuse for a man believes the only time the government is beyond scrutiny or criticism is when its murdering its citizens.

Why anyone is responding to Ned's feeble pleas for attention is beyond me.

Of course he doesn't really feel this way. At least he would not if it was someone he knew or cared about. But a poor black man down in GA? sure let the fucker fry. See how easy it is to type that, even though I did not mean one bit of it?
