Unfortunate Cap Times headline of a Park St. shooting

If it's news, but not politics, then it goes here.

I'm still looking for the inference (presumably from someone associated with Isthmus, based on the subsequent Lueders reference) that the cops are "Klan nightriders disguised in blue."

But if a neighborhood was peaceful until a bar opened or until a neighborhood bar went bad, that neighborhood deserves relief.

The only bar that was closed down in that area was on Sherman Ave where Cafe La Belli Italia is now. That was many years ago and is nowhere near at all where the recent shooting death took place on Fordem and a good half mile from where Fordem Ave even begins. Any crime that happened on Fordem Ave while that bar was open was truly coincidental, so that's a bad comparison to what happened with R-Place.

While Ole and Rick's Northside (the bar that was there before Cafe Bellitalia) may have been shutdown, the bar that sno is referring to is where the lao/thai restaurant is now on 'old' Sherman and backs out to Fordem, and quite near the recent problems in that area. I cannot remember what it was called though. A Place for Friends, maybe? (Too quaker, perhaps.)

You're right, but that bar wasn't "shut down", though. It just closed because nobody went there, so that's still a bad comparison to what happened with R-Place in my opinion.

The city council pulled their liquor license - tantamount to 'shutting it down.'

Holy crap! I'm glad that we started talking about this, because there's quite the connection between those two bars. The former owner of A Place for Friends, Darius Wilson, is one of the people who was in the truck that was sprayed with bullets outside of R-Place. Darius didn't get shot, but suffered injuries to his eyes from the shattered glass. Obviously Park St wasn't the only problem in the equation here. The owner himself, Rick Flowers, attracted these types of problems. Eugene C. Lee, was sitting in the driver's seat and was shot eight times. Flowers described Lee as "like family."

New Town Pub owners shut it down

That was quiet...and inevitable.

Where will the shitbirds go next?
