Headlines that need some help

If it's news, but not politics, then it goes here.

Dumbest lede I've ever seen:

USA Today article on cancer and T cells

Like a villain from the hit 1980s TV series, who might try to kidnap Mr. T to prevent him from rescuing his friends, cancer paralyzes the body's defenses, allowing tumors to grow and spread unopposed.

I also was wondering about "lede" so I googled the word. Seems it's an insiders term in the news business for the beginning of a story (the lead). Does this shed light on bdog's day job?

I've seen Blaska use that version of the word.

I use that version as a small tribute to the Blaska.

Sorry to disappoint but I am not in the newspaper business.

Neither is Blaska anymore. Now I know what the b in your name stands for.

It stands for blue. I already told you that.

Back to the topic...what do you think of the lead/lede? Pretty thin?

This is my favorite lede ever, from an In Business post:

The newspaper industry is in dire straits. We know this because newspapers are the primary source for telling us that the only Dire Straits is the British rock band with Mark Knopfler and Pick Withers – who, with a name like that, you’d think would be a guitarist, but he’s really a percussionist. Dire Straits hit a curve and folded tent in 1995; the newspaper industry will pretty much do the same.

Hit a curve and folded tent! It's all about content. I'd like to hear James Earl Jones reading this.

That must be one massive hemorrhoid. But considering the number of people with heads up their asses, I believe it.

Looks like they've edited the story to "pool" of blood-- taking all of the fun out of it.

They changed the headline but forgot to change the title of the embedded video. It still says pile of blood.

Here's a headline I like. From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, "Prison nurse who had sex with inmate loses appeal"

'Better Than a Dog Anyhow':
Tireless Romantic Charles Darwin
on the Pros and Cons of Marriage

Children -- (if it Please God) -- Constant companion, (& friend in old age) who will feel interested in one, -- object to be beloved & played with. -- -better than a dog anyhow. -- Home, & someone to take care of house -- Charms of music & female chit-chat. -- These things good for one's health. -- but terrible loss of time. -

“better than a dog anyhow”
Another view of C. Darwin in which I will respectfully disagree.
[Esp. in relation to my hubby.]

Love That dog
like a bird loves to fly.
I said I love that dog
like a bird loves to fly.
Love to call him in the morning
love to call him
"Hey there Sky."
