Mellow: Already Harshed

If it's news, but not politics, then it goes here.

Mellow: Already Harshed

Postby Ned Flanders » Fri Dec 07, 2012 5:11 pm

Didn't take long....duuuuuuuude.

Day 1 of Legal Pot Marred by Deaths at Alleged Wash. Growing Center

The first day of legal marijuana use in Washington State was marred by an attempted robbery ending with two deaths at an alleged pot-growing facility just south of Seattle.

The possession of pot became legal in the state Thursday after voters passed a measure decriminalizing it in November. Day two kicked off with more celebrations under the Space Needle tower, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported, but the Pierce County Sheriff's Department investigated an attempted robbery in Puyallup at an alleged growing center foiled by a homeowner who shot two alleged burglars in front of his 9-year-old son.

Officers say they arrived at the home of the man, 35, Thursday to find two masked men dead on the floor and marijuana plants in the attic, ABC affiliate KOMO-TV News reported.

Guns don't kill people, pot does. Or, something.

"Pierce County Sheriff's Department investigated an attempted robbery in Puyallup at an alleged growing center foiled by a homeowner who shot two alleged burglars in front of his 9-year-old son."

Robbing drug dealers is never a good idea, even if its quasi-legal pot growers.

Yep. Drugs do attract criminals -- see "why pot probably shouldn't be legalized".

Good stuff.
So someone's home with some plants in the attic is "a growing center"?
Nothing in that article suggests the burglars even knew what was in the attic.

I'm not saying this isn't pot related (and I grant it likely was) but there's nothing in that article to suggest it was. Furthermore, I don't see what legalization has to do with it, even if it was. Is Ned suggesting that when possession was still illegal, nobody ever got burglarized?

By "something" do you mean stealing? Because, I get the feeling those two dead thieves might still be alive if they hadn't decided to go out stealing stuff.

All kidding aside, I think that if legalization is to occur, it should be at the state level so people can either avoid the dopers or move to said states to take advantage of them.

How do you feel about banks, credit unions and jewelry stores filled with cash and valuable items? Those attract criminals as well.

We live in Madison and this is the first thread about the topic since the vote passed? And it had to come from Ned, via a phoned-in troll?

Shame on you. Shame on all of you.

Well I posted that one a while back with the Seattle PD guidelines on when and where a person ought not to smoke and whether they could have their pot back if it got confiscated last month, but it was probably a little too soon.

Meade,
For whatever it is worth to you, I am so with you on this one. Poor behaviour definetly can have grave consequences, as in this immediate case.

Guns sure seemed to be around murder a lot ----- see "why guns probably shouldn't be legalized".

What about liquor stores, gas stations or convienience stores? They sure seem to get robbed at a higher rate.

How about areas stricken by poverty? HIgh crime there?

This is fun. Women sure seem to be the victims of sex crimes a lot. See "why women shouldn't be legalized...".

Wow Ned, this is a feeble attempt at logic, even for you. Don't you have some PG-rated gifs of jiggling boobs to be posting right now?
