Mallards Games

Postby Quack » Wed Jun 27, 2007 11:15 am

The Madison Mallards will once again be at home this weekend (Saturday June 30 and Sunday July 1) after completing their four game Minnesota roadtrip. Currently the Mallards are three games below .500 with a record of 11-14, but are looking to gain momentum going into the second half of the season next week. The expansion Green Bay Bullfrogs currently sit atop the Northwoods League South Division standings with a record of 20-6, having rattled off 15 consecutive wins. The La Crosse Loggers, the Mallards opponent this weekend is sitting in second place in the South Division 6.5 games behind Green Bay with a record of 13-12.

For Saturday nights game versus the La Crosse Loggers along with great giveaways (Physicians Plus Insurance Kickballs for Kids and Brass Ring Playing Cards for the Duck Blind) fans will be allowed to stay at the ballpark and enjoy Rhythm & Booms from the outfield. The movie "Angels in the Outfield" will also be shown during the night's festivities. Gametime is 5:05 with gates opening at 3:30.

On Sunday the Mallards will pay tribute to Madison's minor league baseball history by wearing replica 1930s Madison Blues uniforms courtesy of Saint Mary's Hospital. Gametime is 3:05 with gates opening at 1:30.

The Mallards managed to split the series with the Loggers this weekend; dropping Saturday's game 16-7, and rallying from a 9-6 deficit in the ninth to win 10-9 on Sunday thanks to Mitch Saum's 3 RBI walkoff double.

This weekends games were also the final home games for the Mallards during the first half of the season as the first half of the Northwoods League season is wrapping up this week. The Mallards next home game is July 13th at 7:05 versus the Wisconsin Woodchucks.

The Mallards close out the first half of the season tonight in Canada versus the Thunder Bay Border Cats. With a win tonight the Mallards will be back to .500 as they are currently 16-17. The Mallards are currently on a two game win streak and are looking for a series sweep tonight. The second half starts tomorrow as the Mallards travel to Saint Cloud to take on the River Bats.
